This year, we’re aiming for a more informal approach; our focus is on creating a relaxed, social atmosphere where we can connect with loggers and hear your thoughts. There will be no formal speakers, and most of the meetings will be held in more casual venues with more casual snack food. We'd love for you to join us! We hope you can join us and are looking forward to seeing you this fall! 2025 Forestry Field Day at Arnot ForestSustaining a World-Class Forest Resource Through Slash Walls and SilvicultureThe 2025 Annual Forestry Field Day will take place on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. Participants are encouraged to bring their own hardhats if available, as only a limited number will be available for loan. Please also bring your own lunch and water.The event will be held at Cornell University’s Arnot Teaching and Research Forest, located at 611 County Road 13, Van Etten, NY 14889 (Schuyler County). For navigation, the Google Plus Code locator is 797C+GJ Van Etten, New York. The primary objective of this field day is to provide landowners and land managers with the latest information on both proven and emerging methods and technology for establishing new forested areas, restoring degraded woodlands, and ensuring the health and productivity of forests for future generations. This year’s field day will focus on the chronosequence of changes within slash walls from 2017 through 2025’s active harvest. Emphasis will be placed on management practices for controlling undesired stems, encouraging desired tree species, and addressing pests through biological, mechanical, and chemical control methods. Instructors include experts and researchers from Cornell University Cooperative Extension, SUNY ESF, and the forest industry. An agenda and full list of speakers can be found here. The Roundtable will be held on Monday, November 3rd, at SUNY Adirondack. We welcome input from our members and partners to help shape this year’s discussions.
