ITHS PROFILE SERIES: DR. TUMAINI COKERThe ITHS interview series is meant to shine a deserving spotlight on individuals who are doing critical work across the vast spectrum of translational science. In our August installment of this series, we connected with Dr. Tumaini Coker, Division Head for General Pediatrics and the Co-Lead of the Integrating Special Population program at the Institute of Translational Health
Sciences (ITHS). Dr. Coker shared her academic and professional journey in the field of pediatrics, the importance of health equity research, and the probable future trajectory of health equity research.
The Institute of Translational Health Sciences (ITHS) is made of a number of services and people who move research from one phase of the translational science spectrum to the next, and help others to do the same. Whether you’re developing new approaches,
demonstrating their usefulness or disseminating the findings, ITHS can support you, and now we're showing you exactly how. Check out our new 'By The Numbers' breakdown and see how ITHS can help you!

ITHS wishes Dr. Baldwin a happy retirement!
Laura-Mae Baldwin, MD, MPH, was a Professor in the UW Department of Family Medicine, an investigator in the Washington Wyoming Alaska Montana Idaho (WWAMI) Rural Health Research Center, and a practicing family physician. Dr. Baldwin’s research was largely focused on racial/ethnic and rural‐urban health disparities, and cancer prevention and treatment, all with an eye towards ensuring equitable access to high quality health services across U.S. Read a recent interview with her here.
Celebrating retirement: "A fair amount of folks in my network probably know Laura-Mae already but, for those who don't, she is fantastic. She is a family physician and professor in UW's Department of Family Medicine. She has been foundational to our work at WPRN and, honestly, so many others throughout the years.
Definitely a bittersweet moment. Cheers to a new chapter!" -From ITHS' Dillon von Rensburg via LinkedIn

It's a great day when you have completed a research project and are finally able to tell the world about the new knowledge you have to contribute to your field. This is also the right time to give credit to those who have funded or otherwise supported your work via the grant citation. In acknowledging how you were supported, you also provide an important roadmap to your research process. We
at ITHS are excited to assist you in your research journey, and we hope you know that all publications, press releases, or other documents that result from the utilization of any ITHS resources are required to credit the grant. These citations help us show our funder, our partners, and our collaborating institutions the impact of ITHS so that we can continue to provide training and research service programs to you. Help us continue providing these great services by citing the ways ITHS has helped your work!
