Season's greetings

We have arrived at the final month of 2021, and what a wild ride it has been! It was officially announced last week, that this year has been Australia's biggest year for foreign film production ever! Check out Screen Australia's annual Drama Report for the figures, in the story below.

We take a tour through the spectactular desert-scape of South Australia's Coober Pedy for this month's Location Spotlight article.

Our First Nation's spotlight is on editor, and Noongar man, Kim West. Our friends at Screenwest sat with Kim to provide insight into this inspirational editor.

This month Ausfilm launched The Australian Job campaign to promote Australia's talented post, sound, music, animation and VFX members and the very competitive post and VFX incentives available in Australia - up to 45% back on your spend Down Under! Part of this campaign includes a new Australian Screen Incentives Calculator to help you work out the savings easily. Check out the trailer and links below.

Welcome to two new Ausfilm Members. Meet the talented post-production team at ARC FILM, and CATO Location Services, our newest on-set and location services specialists. Take a look at their profiles below and be sure to get in touch with the team for introductions.

Before you all wrap up for the holiday season, be sure to catch up on the last two months of news from Australia: don't miss Animal Logic's interview with the director and producers of The Magician's Elephant as part of the Australians in Film series; Screen Queensland's brand new Cairns studio is due to open in mid-2022; meet Rising Sun Pictures' talented VFX Supervisor Dan Bethell; and news from Method Studios, Mr. X, Industrial Light & Magic, Sandbox, Screen NSW, The Rebel Fleet and plenty more!

Wishing you all a safe, relaxing and joyous holiday season.
