All EVST majors are encouraged to attend EVST senior essay presentations this Wednesday from 7:00-8:30pm in Burke Auditorium, Kroon Hall. Drinks and light refreshments will be available. Please join us for this fun and informative event to learn about the EVST senior essay process and celebrate the success of the EVST Class of 2025! Below are the seniors presenting:

Opportunities

Applications for Scholars for Conservation Leadership Program (SCLP) are open | The SCLP is a career and leadership development program designed to expand opportunities for students interested in conservation, environmental science, resource management, etc.  The application closes May 31st. Seniors

The California Conservation Corps in connection with AmeriCorps has an ongoing program committed to Salmonid research in California (http://www.ccc.ca.gov/wsp). It's a great opportunity for any recent or soon-to-be grads who are interested in exploring environmental education and community outreach, as well as applied research in the fisheries and water sectors. The application has recently opened for the new cohort which will run from October 1st, 2025 – August 20th, 2026

Prizes

The Yale library invites Yale College seniors to submit their senior essays for consideration to win prizes for excellence. Prizewinners are awarded a cash prize in the amount of $500 (honorable mention recipients receive $250), and all winners’ essays are published on EliScholar, Yale Library’s digital platform for scholarly publishing. Students receive their awards at their residential commencement ceremonies.

  • The Library Map Prize is awarded to a Yale College senior for the best use of maps in a senior essay.  The deadline for the Library Map Prize 2025 is Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 11:59 p.m. EDT.  View submission guidelines. Submit your essay for consideration. Past EVST recipients include:

  • The Harvey M. Applebaum '59 Prize is awarded to a Yale College senior for an outstanding essay based on research that has substantial use of national government or intergovernmental organization (IGO) information, including documents or data.  The submission deadline is Wednesday, May 7, 2025, 11:59 pm EDT. Past EVST recipients include:

    • Renewable Energy Access and Resilience in Urban Developing Areas: Distributed Solar Networks and Peer-to-Peer Energy Trading in Puerto Rico, Pascale Bronder '19 

John Addison Porter Prize | The Porter Prize recognizes original scholarship that gathers and synthesizes facts and principles to create work of broad human interest.   Students submit their own work for consideration. Deadline: May 1st at 1:00 PM. Submission details, guidelines, FAQs, and past winners: porterfield.yale.edu
