2023 Volunteer Grants Expressions of Interest are Now Open!The Volunteer Grants Program supports community volunteer groups who benefit our local area. Our electorate has
total funding of up to $66,225 available for our local groups to support the efforts of their volunteers. Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help not-for-profit community organisations support their volunteers through practical measures such as: - Equipment for volunteers
- Fuel costs for volunteers
- Transport costs for volunteers
- Fees for training courses
- Background check fees for volunteers
- Activities to promote awareness and increase volunteering opportunities.

Defence Global Competitiveness Grants Program Amount: $15,000 - $150,000
Closing Date: Ongoing
Purpose: To bolster a sustainable and globally competitive Australian defence industry by assisting eligible Australian SMEs in developing export capability. The program focuses on helping businesses overcome barriers to export opportunities, such as attaining international certifications/accreditations and capital item procurement. Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) Amount: $50,000 - $200,000
Closing Date: 30 August 2023
Purpose: To support the economic empowerment of Australian First Nations women, girls and sistergirls. The grant provides opportunities to support First Nations female entrepreneurs to innovate and solve social issues facing their communities and improve the economic security of other First Nations women and their communities. Industrial Energy Transformation Studies Program Amount: Up to $5 million
Closing Date: Ongoing
Purpose: To assist large energy users to undertake engineering and feasibility studies to identify opportunities to lower energy costs and reduce emissions at their facilities. Applicants can seek $100,000 to $500,000 for feasibility studies or $250,000 to $5 million for engineering studies. For more information: Click here

Long Tan Bursary Amount: $12,000
Closing Date: Ongoing
Purpose: The Long Tan Bursary helps eligible children and grandchildren of Vietnam veterans pay for their tertiary education. Each year 37 bursaries are awarded to successful applicants across Australia. Each bursary is worth up to $12,000 over 3 years of continuous full-time study. For more information: Click here

Peri-Urban Mobile Program (PUMP) Public Consultation Closing Date: 16 August 2023.
Purpose: Local residents and Councils can now have their say for grant guidelines of Round 2 of the Peri-Urban Mobile Program (PUMP) to improve mobile coverage on the urban fringes of communities across Australia. Many parts of the Shortland electorate are eligible. Local councils and community groups are invited to upload their project proposals to the Noticeboard.

Prime Minister Spelling Bee Closing Date: 18 August 2023.
Purpose: Registrations for the Prime Minister’s 2023 Spelling Bee are now open. The PM’s Spelling Bee is a free online competition for Australian school students in Years 3 to 8 across all states and territories. The aim of the PM’s Spelling Bee is to improve the literacy skills of school children through expanding their vocabulary and encouraging reading.

Saluting Their Service (STS) Commemorative Grants Program Amount: Up to $150,000
Closing Date: 10 October 2023
Purpose: To commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations, and their families. Two categories of grants are available under the STS program: Community Grants - Up to $10,000 Major Grants - $10,001 - $150,000

Securing Faith-Based Places Grant Amount: $25,000 - $500,000
Closing Date: 11 September 2023
Purpose: To improve security at religious schools and preschools, places of worship and faith-based community centres, including fencing, lighting, security cameras, traffic barriers, alarm systems, and access controls, as well as engagement of security guards. For more information: Click here

Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority Grants Amount: $50,000 - $1 million
Closing Date: ongoing
Purpose: To enhance the capabilities of Australian SMEs critical to the defence industry. The grants, can cover up to 50% of eligible project expenditure. The program focuses on areas such as combat technology, aerospace maintenance, surveillance and intelligence, space, and cyber capabilities. For more information: Click here

Strengthening Medicare–General Practice (GP) Grants Program Amount: Up to $50,000
Closing Date: Undisclosed
Purpose: To allow all General Practices and eligible Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) to expand patient access and improve their services through investments in innovation, training, equipment, and minor capital works. Smaller practices are eligible for grants of $25,000 or $35,000,and larger practices are eligible for grants of $50,000. GP practices and ACCHOs not currently accredited against the RACGP standards will be eligible for $25,000. For more information: Click here

Veterans' Health Week (VHW) Funding Amount: $720

Vietnam War Commemorative Medallion Closing Date: Undisclosed
Purpose: To acknowledge the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. The medallions are available for every Vietnam veteran, widows of veterans and other family members of veterans. For more information: Click here

Active Kids Program Amount: $50
Closing Date: 31 January 2024
Purpose: The NSW Government has announced changes to the Active Kids and First Lap programs. From 1 July 2023, all children enrolled in school will be eligible for a new $50 Active Kids voucher which will be valid until 31 January 2024. The voucher will be issued twice a year, at the start of Terms 1 and 3 and will cover activities currently available under the Active and Creative Kids programs. For more information: Click here

Clubgrants Category 3 Infrastructure Grants Sport & Recreation Amount: $50,000 - $300,000
Closing Date: 21 August 2023
Purpose: To support the building, renovation and fit-out of community infrastructure. Funding is available for sport and recreation facilities, arts and cultural infrastructure, as well as projects that assist communities with essential infrastructure and disaster readiness. Funding can include: - Indoor organised sports centre (e.g. indoor cricket, basketball)
- Leisure centre (e.g. martial arts dojo, gymnastics centre)
- Outdoor organised sports facility (e.g. football field, netball courts)
- Recreation space (e.g. playground, skate-park)
- Large-scale purpose-built facility (e.g. stadium, velodrome, motorsports facility)
- Water sports (e.g swimming pool).

NSW Government Strengthening Social Cohesion Community Grants Amount: $50,000 - $250,000
Closing Date: 21 August 2023
Purpose: Three individual grants of up to $50,000 (inclusive of GST) are available for 3 not-for-profit organisations to lead innovative community projects that strengthen social cohesion, increase democratic resilience, and improve trust in our democratic institutions. NSW Seniors Festival Grants Amount: $200,000
Closing Date: 28 August 2023
Purpose: From art classes to information sessions, we're calling for applications to fund activities that provide seniors with opportunities to be active and engaged in their local communities. Small Grants - Museums and Galleries NSW Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: 10 September 2023
Purpose: To meet the short-term, collection-based requirements of community museums and Aboriginal cultural spaces. There are no set categories for funding, and applications for a broad range of projects will be considered. For more information: Click here

Quick Response Grants - Regional Arts Fund and Regional Arts NSW Amount: $3,000
Closing Date: Ongoing
Purpose: Quick Response Grants support immediate needs that arise where the activity is unable to be planned for or supported in other funding rounds, for example taking up professional development, skills development or small project opportunities at short notice. Quick Response Grants are delivered monthly from February to November and all applications will be competitively assessed at the end of each month For more information: Click here

Council Crown Land Management Excellence Awards Closing Date: 24 August 2023
Purpose: This award will recognise a reserve manager organisation that is appointed to care, control and manage a NSW Crown reserve. The award winner will exemplify an outstanding community service ethos, dedication, and commitment to their communities. Corena Quick Win Climate Loan Amount: Undisclosed

Purpose: The CORENA Fund provides interest-free loans to help fund Quick Win climate projects anywhere in Australia in cases where the up-front capital cost is a barrier. Examples of projects eligible for CORENA loans include: - Solar installations
- Replacing gas hot water with efficient electric alternatives (eg. heat pumps)
- Replacing inefficient air conditioning and gas space heating systems with
reverse cycle air conditioners
- Induction cooktops
- Lighting retrofits
- Electric vehicles
- Energy audits
- Other cost-effective energy efficiency measures
- A
combined package of two or more of the above.
