Don't miss out on this opportunity to take part in this iconic event! February marks Payroll Giving Month, where we're emphasising the simplicity and tax efficiency of payroll giving. By setting up a regular gift through your payroll, you can extend your support to hardworking seafarers and their families, making a meaningful impact. We also want to invite you to save the date for an enlightening webinar we're hosting with ISWAN and Nautilus International on 20 March to address the welfare gap in the private yachting sector. Furthermore, we're thrilled to announce our collaboration with The Nautical Institute, focusing on leadership and management, fishing industry promotion and recognition, initiatives supporting women working at sea, and work needed to prepare our mariners for the next generation of green fuels. Lastly, February is also LGBT+ History Month in the UK, and we want to highlight the Coming Out Toolkit we introduced in July 2022 to support our LGBT+ staff and foster allyship among team members. Payroll Giving is the easiest and most tax-efficient way to donate. When you set up a regular gift through your payroll, it’s deducted from your salary before tax, so it will cost you less. Make your gifts go further and help hardworking seafarers and their families live dignified lives free from hardship long into the future. Changing Tack on yacht crew welfare - save the date and join our webinar on 20 March! What has emerged in the last few years is a chasm between welfare provision in the private yachting sector compared to its shoreside counterparts, with calls for more to be done. The Seafarers' Charity is convening a webinar with the International Seafarers' Welfare & Assistance Network (ISWAN) and Nautilus International to address this issue. The Seafarers' Charity and The Nautical Institute formalise partnership with MOUOn 7 February, The Seafarers' Charity's Chief Executive, Deborah Layde, visited the International Maritime Organisation headquarters to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between The Seafarers' Charity and The Nautical Institute. The MOU establishes a framework for collaboration in various areas of mutual interest, including leadership and management, fishing industry promotion and recognition, initiatives supporting women working at sea, and work needed to prepare our mariners for the next generation of green fuels. Monitoring and evaluating our grant fundingOn 7 February, our Impact Team met with our regular funded delivery partners to discuss our approach to monitoring and evaluating the impact of our grants. As over £2m is invested in maritime welfare services each and every year, it’s important that we measure the impact of our funding to support seafarers’ safety and welfare. Watch the recording of the meeting to learn more about our monitoring and evaluation of our grant funding. Happy LGBT+ History Month! Embrace inclusion with our ToolkitFebruary is LGBT+ History Month, a time to celebrate and reflect on the history of the LGBT+ community. In July 2022, The Seafarers' Charity produced a Coming Out Toolkit to support our LGBT+ staff and foster allyship among all team members. Regardless of their decision to disclose gender and sexual identity, our toolkit empowers our LGBT+ staff to feel safe and respected. |
