Sector HR ResourcesCapability application tool (CAT)The Capability Application Tool helps job applicants and interview candidates better understand the NSW public sector capability framework, prepare stronger responses and helps them get ready for interviews. This helps your agency create a more positive candidate experience.Please share this tool internally and please link to it in your job advertisements. If you have any questions about the tool and its use, contact the PSC’s Capability Design Team.Aboriginal employment strategy refresh The PSC has recently refreshed the Aboriginal Employment Strategy. The strategy aims to build upon the sector’s capability to attract and retain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, across all grades of the public sector, as well as to improve career mobility, growth and workplace experience. All agencies have a role in supporting the Aboriginal Employment Strategy and ensuring that our workplaces are inclusive for Aboriginal employees. ![]() You can read more about the Aboriginal Employment Strategy on the PSC website or reach out to the Aboriginal Workforce and Inclusion team for more information Senior executive fundamentals web pageNew senior executives now have a one-stop-guide to surviving and thriving in their new role – the Senior Executive Fundamentals. The program’s website has recently been refreshed with new and updated information on important topics like executive accountabilities and building productive relationships. The site also includes links to other resources and training and sets out what new senior executives need to know and do in their first six months. Please share the link to the Senior Executive Fundamentals website in your senior executive on boarding materials. Are you looking for a tool to improve how your agency attracts, develops and retains digital talent? The Digital Career Pathways Tool can help your staff plan their digital career within the NSW public sector. Staff can discover digital roles that exist within the sector and compare the capabilities and capability levels of their current and future roles. The tool also provides ideas for development opportunities and walks staff through the planning process, to help them advance their digital careers. We encourage you to share this tool with your ICT teams. Anti-discrimination workplace adjustments resources Anti-Discrimination NSW has developed a series of short films and podcasts about workplace adjustments. The series features people with disability and managers working in the NSW public service sharing personal stories. The project highlights the importance of workplace adjustments and increases awareness of existing initiatives which are aimed at improving access to and delivery of workplace adjustments across the sector. Upcoming events / development opportunities![]() HR ComPrac eventsDid you miss our September event ‘Let's Talk HR Plans and Strategies’? It was one of the most heavily attended sessions this year, with over 200 HR professionals attending. People “really enjoyed” the session and let us know that it was “very informative with some useful takeaways”. Many attendees are “looking forward to future events”. Episode 10 features Scott Hansen, Director General at NSW Department of Primary Industries, discussing business partnering to identify, develop and execute workforce strategies. The PSC Capability Discovery Tool can help with career conversations and performance development. Staff can use the tool for self-assessment and reflect on their capability development needs. Managers can use the tool in career conversations and to provide feedback on staff capability. You can access the Capability Discovery Tool and find out how to use it on the PSC website.
