A few words from Tim...

A year on and many companies have had to reconsider manufacturing options over the last year as global supply chains have broken down due to the pandemic.

But if production parts are being moulded in the Far East, what options are there?

Many companies look to reshoring their tools back to the UK, but this can be something of a headache, so we have an alternative suggestion - why not retool rather than reshore? It can be a much simpler option!

See how we made it work for one of our clients in the case study below, and from there it’s simple, just pick up the phone and talk to us.

Size, geometry and quantities will have a bearing, but you know us, we like to make things happen if we can so it’s worth making the call...then you can worry a little bit less about the 400m Ever Given currently stuck in the Suez Canal!

As always, forever at your service,

Tooling

Forget the hassle of Reshoring, why not consider Re-tooling instead?

Many companies have had to reconsider manufacturing options this last year as a result of global supply chains breaking down due to the pandemic.

Reshoring has been an option for some clients and bringing production tools from the Far East and back into the UK has been a viable solution to bring stability back into many production programmes.

However, as per most things these days, this isn't always as simple as it sounds!

TRT lighting

New UK tooling provides a local, flexible and sustainable production option

As a long-standing supplier of parts and prototypes into TRT Lighting through both UK and Far Eastern suppliers for many years, we have continued to explore alternative options to see if there are better ways to manufacture their parts.

We considered historical call off patterns, ever increasing shipping costs and our rapidly expanding UK capability to both tool and mould, and built a proposal to manufacture a new tool and provide subsequent moulding through our sister company, Adept Precision.

The advantages to TRT were indisputable, with a dramatic reduction in component ‘miles’, a shorter more responsive supply chain, plus a reduction to the vagaries of exchange rates.
