Emma Polinsky, BA '24, Environmental Policy Emma grew up outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, but now calls Saint Petersburg, Florida home. Through the Summer Environmental Fellowship, Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship, Women in Government Fellowship, and Summer Experience Award, she has worked at the NOAA Climate Program Office as a communications intern and Haven’s Harvest. She has specific interests in climate change communications, environmental policy, and community-based solutions. Mikaele Ymker, BS '24, Food and Agriculture Hailing from New Zealand, Mikaele is passionate about building sustainable global agrifood systems through connecting science, policy, and innovation. She has worked with agriculture technology startups including Halter NZ, which uses intelligent farm management systems to improve animal welfare, productivity, and environmental outcomes for livestock farmers, and Symbrosia, a Yale-founded startup using sustainable seaweed production to mitigate agricultural methane emissions. Quinn Evans, BS '25, Biodiversity and Conservation Quinn's on-campus research implements evolutionary quantitative genetics to uncover the genetic bases of trait differences between species of monkeyflowers. He spent the summer of 2023 conducting additional field research on sagebrush plant community resilience. A longtime Coloradan, Quinn has a deep love for the outdoors and spent a gap year before college working in food systems with Huerta Urbana. Nola Dorji, BS '25, Sustainability and Natural Resources ‘Nola’ is an international student from Bhutan who lived in the Philippines for most of her life. She is enrolled in the Statistics and Data Science program and involved in the Dwight Hall Socially Responsible Investment (DHSRI) club, Environmental Education Collaborative (EECO), and a Silliman FroCo. Sarah Cheung, BS '25, Environmental Justice Sarah is a Human Rights Scholar with certificates in Data Science and Chinese and an incoming 5-year BS/MPP student at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs, where she hopes to delve more into international climate justice and geopolitics. Rose Hansen, BS '25, Energy and Climate This summer, Rose pursued energy research supported by the Summer Environmental Fellowship and the Benjamin Franklin Richter Fellowship. Interviewing everyone from Department of Energy officials to Uber drivers, she has studied the European approach to the energy transition; her research will become a series of podcasts for the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy. Saskia Braden, BA '25, Environmental Policy Saskia is passionate about climate policy. Last summer, she supported domestic climate priorities as an intern in the White House Climate Policy Office. Over the past few years, she has had the opportunity to look at corporate climate action, international climate risk assessment, and grassroots organizing.
