This program can offer financial support up to $15,000 for employers to hire eligible employees into a permanent job to:

  • Help grow your workforce

  • Offset labour costs

  • Reduce onboarding and training costs

Career Start

Career Start is a reduced cost entry level training to start a career, move to more skilled role or full time employment. Career Start provides eligible Queenslanders with:

  • Access to certificate III qualifications 
  • access to apprenticeship and traineeship training 
  • access to lower-level qualifications identified 
  • expanded access to language, literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and employability skills
  • increased access to training in regional and remote areas
  • supported training pathways for women and priority cohorts.

Career Boost 

Career Boost helps the development of higher-level skills needed to advance careers to help level-up at work, support productivity growth and workplace innovation.

The training that is available is on the Queensland Subsidised Training List identifies the qualifications and skill sets that attract Queensland Government funding.

The Queensland Skills Gateway also has more information about qualifications. The course search results will provide details of whether a qualification is funded under Career Boost.

Local Jobs, Local People 

The Local Jobs, Local People Grant Opportunity is open until 24 September 2025 and will help address local employment needs by funding local activities that help people get into employment, access training, and create pathways directly leading to employment. Activities can support anyone who is unemployed or underemployed and needs help connecting with work. To do this, the objectives are to:

  • Deliver short-term activities to address the priorities identified in the Local Jobs Plan for the relevant Employment Region(s), and:
     
  • offer activities leading to ongoing, secure employment or that build clear pathways to employment for First Nations peoples, mature age Australians over 45, and young people up to 24 years of age, and/or 
     
  • help realise the opportunity for local employment in the Care and Support sectors.
