Christmas in our Communities

Carols by Candlelight, Christmas Fairs, Blue Christmas, Nativity Plays, preparing gift hampers and fundraising drives…there are many ways congregations are able to connect with their wider community in the Christmas season.

As Christians across the world prepare for Advent, we’ve decided to take a look around our Uniting Church WA congregations to see some of the unique ways they are sharing the message of Christmas with their local communities this year.

Welcome Rev Hollis Wilson

This week we welcome Rev Hollis Wilson as he begins his role as General Secretary of the Synod of WA.

Hollis today begins a long term supply placement as General Secretary of the Synod of WA in a half-time capacity while continuing to serve as Minister at Uniting Church in the City half-time.

Thanks to David Beards who has been serving as Interim General Secretary throughout November. We give thanks to all who have served the church in a leadership role, past and present.

Ministry Opportunity

The Uniting Church WA are seeking expressions of interest for the position of Formation and Learning Culture Co-Ordinator.

The Formation and Learning Culture Co-ordinator will co-ordinate the formation programs and foster a learning culture within the Uniting Church in Western Australia.

Expressions of interest for this role are invited from Ministers of the Word or Deacons, Pastors or a lay person who is a member of the UCA, or applicants who hold comparable educational and theological training.

As we get closer to Christmas this website will be widely advertised to the community for people wanting to find local services, so we encourage congregations to contribute!

You can either submit your event details for approval via the link below, or email Wendy at website@wa.uca.org.au with all of the details.

Assembly Standing Committee Meeting in November
The Assembly Standing Committee (ASC) gathered in Sydney from 21–23 November to continue giving oversight of the life, ministry and mission of the Assembly. Over the weekend the ASC received reports, discerned major pieces of work, affirmed strategic directions and celebrated stories of life and hope.

Kalamunda Uniting Church Market
Kalamunda Uniting Church welcomes you and your friends to their last market day for the year on Saturday 6 December from 9.00am to 12.00pm. There will be delicious scones, cake and sandwiches to tempt you with your morning tea or coffee . Browse our book tables in the hall and the crafts, jams and cakes, plants and bric-a-brac in the foyer.

Peace Pole Ceremony
All are welcome to Margaret River Uniting Church on Sunday 14 December for our Peace Pole Ceremony at 11.30am. This is an ecumenical community event which will include a labyrinth walk and a bring and share lunch afterwards. During the ceremony there will be an unveiling of the new Peace Pole along with Lama Sonam from Tig-Le House, Transition Margaret River, and Rotary Margaret River. Several other community groups will be present and will bring short messages of peace, including the Augusta Margaret River Shire President.

Tuesday 16 December, 12.00pm to 5.00pm. Uniting Church Centre closed for staff Christmas Party.
Sunday 21 December. Fourth Sunday of Advent
Monday 22 December. Final News and Notes for 2025.
Wednesday 24 December. Christmas Eve.
Wednesday 24 December, 4.00pm. Uniting Church Centre closed until 9.00am Monday 5 January 2026.
Thursday 25 December. Christmas Day
Friday 26 December. Boxing Day Public Holiday.
