50th Synod Opening Worship

Our 50th Synod Begins in Worship!

The 50th Annual Meeting of the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of Western Australia began with a joyful opening worship service on Friday 11 September 2026 at All Saints Floreat Uniting Church led by the Uniting Church WA Moderator, Rev David Jackson CSM.

The opening service constitutes the annual Synod of Western Australia meeting which took place over the weekend of 11 to 13 September 2026.

This year our opening worship included a celebration and recognition of ordained ministry – ‘Celebration of Ministry’.

WA Synod 2026 – Saturday Highlights

The 50th Annual Meeting of the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of Western Australia met over the weekend of 11 to 13 September 2026.

Lay and ordained members elected from our Uniting Church WA congregations and faith communities, schools, colleges, agencies and reporting bodies came together for fellowship, to discern, and to discuss issues of importance in the life of the Uniting Church in Australia, Western Australia, and the wider community.

WA Synod 2026 - Sunday Highlights

We gathered at the Bentley Technology Hub for the second day of our 50th Annual Meeting of the Synod of Western Australia.

Sunday morning began with worship and Holy Communion, led by our Moderator Rev David Jackson, with Uniting Church in Australia President Rev Charissa Suli preaching the sermon.

Everything in Common Gift Stall Registrations Open

This Advent, inspire generosity by hosting an Everything in Common gift stall or including UnitingWorld in a retiring offering.

Everything in Common gift cards represent donations to many of UnitingWorld's vital projects. In recent years, thanks to Uniting Churches across Australia, families in Asia, Africa and the Pacific gained better access to food, clean water, small business support, and hope in the face of poverty and a changing climate. Let's do it again!

Key UCA Documents Now Available in Translation
Translated versions of several key foundational and governance documents are now available, helping more people participate fully in the life, leadership and decision-making of the Church. The translated resources include the Basis of Union, Manual for Meetings, Statement to the Nation and Church Council Responsibilities Guide. 
Translations are available in Arabic, Armenian, Dinka, Fijian, Filipino, Indonesian, Korean, Nuer, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swahili, Tongan, Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese, reflecting the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of the Uniting Church.

Safe Church Awareness Workshop
The next Safe Church Awareness Workshop will be taking place on Saturday 26 September at Beth Shalom Uniting Church, 9.00am to 2.00pm. All ministers, pastors, church leaders, volunteers, members of congregations and those involved in community services are welcome and urged to attend.

Trek 4 Timor South West
Raise funds while enjoying a Sunday afternoon walk in the Crooked Brook Forest in the Ferguson Valley. The International Partnerships and Development Commission (IPDC) are supporting this fun, family friendly event on Sunday 4 October 2026, raising money for the Mobile Health Clinic run by our Synod partners, Fundaҫou Lafaek Diak, The Good Crocodile Foundation, in East Timor.
Get together with friends, family, your dog or go solo and show your support for our partners in East Timor. Four walk options are available to choose from.
Registration is $20 (+bf) Donations are also greatly appreciated.

Job opportunities in the Uniting Church WA

Finance Clerk​​​​​​​
The Finance Clerk supports the finance department by handling daily administrative and accounting tasks. This part time role ensures accurate financial record-keeping, smooth processing of invoices, and timely bank reconciliations. Combined with the HR administrator element, this role assists the Church with recruitment and compliance. This position will be based at the Uniting Church Centre in East Perth.
