 And more!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the March edition of Reaching Out. We would like to take a moment to express our sincerest appreciation for the important work that you do. Your tireless efforts to deliver health Outreach services are vital to ensuring that all Queenslanders have access to quality healthcare.

We would like to remind everyone about the importance of providing information and comments in your Outreach reports. Any extra information regarding the coordination of services, working with local primary care providers, other visiting providers, good news stories, or any challenges is helpful. All comments you submit are read and reviewed, in addition to the statistical information that is provided. These comments are especially useful when completing reports for funding purposes as they allow for a greater understanding of community needs and provide insights into the benefits and impacts of the Outreach programs.

With the last quarter of the financial year fast approaching, it is a busy time as we ensure that service providers are on track to meet contracted delivery by the end of June 2023.

If you are experiencing any issues or need to discuss the delivery of your schedule, please contact our team as soon as possible.

We are excited to announce a number of additional funding opportunities that may be available before 30 June 2023. These funding opportunities aim to support the expansion of healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and to improve access to mainstream services for people with disability.

More details about these funding opportunities can be found in the newsletter below. If you have any questions regarding either, please get in touch by speaking to your
Regional Coordinator or emailing outreachservices@checkup.org.au.

We hope you all enjoy reading this edition of Reaching Out.

Kind regards,

Aidan and Elise

Additional funding opportunities for MOICDP and Healthy Ears providers

Funding to deliver upskilling to local health professionals

Additional funding may be available between now and 30 June 2023 for the delivery of upskilling activities for local health professionals. Where possible and appropriate, Outreach health professionals can provide educational and upskilling activities of either a theoretical or clinical nature to local medical and health professionals and, where appropriate, other members of the public (such as carers).

Arrangements for formal upskilling activities must be developed in consultation with local health professionals and aim to complement existing training arrangements within the area. Funding may be provided for supported procedural and non-procedural upskilling. The cost of venue/facility/room hire may also be covered. Outreach programs will not cover the cost of allocation of points for continuing professional development. In addition, non-salaried private health professionals may claim an hourly rate that is consistent with the applicable fee-for-service rates for the time required to present the agreed-upon upskilling activity.

Additional funding to support short term expansion of Outreach capacity

Short term funding may also be available up to 30 June 2023 for additional Outreach visits or to extend the duration of visits to address waitlists and acute demand for services. Please contact your Regional Coordinator for further information.

If you have any questions regarding either of these opportunities, please contact your Regional Coordinator or email outreachservices@checkup.org.au.
