The Bridge Builder Excellence Award is presented to a current high school football player in the state of South Carolina who embodies excellence in the community, in the classroom and on the field. The Top 3 Nominees as well as the winner of the award will be presented at the 12th annual Enshrinement at Hotel Hartness on April 17, 2025. Award Criteria: ● Football excellence = 40% ● Academics (Minimum 3.2 Core GPA) = 30% ● Exemplary School, Character, Community Citizenship, and Leadership = 30% Each nominee will receive a certificate of recognition for their accomplishments, will be invited to celebrate #BBEA25Day on their social media platforms and in person, and to participate in South Carolina College Decision Day at the statehouse on May 7, 2025. In addition, the top 10 Semi-Finalists will be invited to share their secrets to success on the SCFHOF Sports & Leadership Podcast hosted by Chairman David S. Wyatt. The 2025 Bridge Builder Excellence Award is also supported in part by the generosity of The Sturgis Family and Wyatt Law, PA. BBEA Top 10 Semi-Finalists Michael Boulware is a standout junior linebacker from Gray Collegiate Academy in West Columbia, SC, with plans to attend college after his 2026 graduation. His honors include 2x All State, 2x All Region, 2024 Midlands All-Area, Grey Collegiate Academy Linebacker of the Year, and a #1 linebacker ranking in the Class of 2026 by Prep Redzone. Boulware is also active in his community, named 2024 Rotary Club Student of the Quarter, and volunteers at Epworth Children’s Home, school events, and park cleanups. Connor Brown is a senior wide receiver from North Augusta High School, committed to play at Wofford next season. A standout athlete from North Augusta, SC, he has been named 2x All-Region, 4A All-State, and participated in the Shrine Bowl. Off the field, Brown excels academically and actively volunteers in his community, helping with youth and special needs football camps, community projects, and the recent Hurricane Helene cleanup efforts. Spencer Conn is a senior linebacker at D.W. Daniel High School in Central, SC and is committed to play at Murray State University. Conn has accumulated many football awards including 3x All-Region, 2x All-State, 3x All-Mountain Lakes, and North-South All-State Defensive Player of the game. Academically, Conn is ranked in the top 15% of his class and has also been a part of his team’s leadership council for all 4 years of his career. A committed community leader, he volunteers at the annual P.R.I.D.E. football camp for area kids, Dabo Swinney youth camps, local churches, and food banks. Jaden Cummings is a senior quarterback and team captain for Summerville High School in Summerville, SC, committed to playing for Dartmouth College. His football résumé is packed with accolades, including 3x All-Region, 2x All-Lowcountry, 2x SCFCA All-State, and being selected to play in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives North-South Football Game. He also was named Region 8-5A Player of the Year, The Post and Courier Player of the Year, and Live 5 News Player of the Year. Beyond his achievements on the field, Cummings maintains a 4.85 GPA while taking AP and Honors courses. He also gives back to his community by mentoring young athletes through local youth football programs and reading to elementary school students. Connor Gooding is a senior tight end at Gilbert High School in Gilbert, SC, committed to the University of Southern Mississippi. A standout athlete, he has earned numerous football accolades, including All-Area First Team, 4A All-State First Team, North vs. South All-Star, and All-Region Team honors. Beyond the field, Gooding is an active leader in his school community and is a part of the Principal's Cabinet, Beta Club, and FCA. He also gives back by volunteering weekly at a local elementary school, mentoring and assisting children in need. Zyon Guiles is a talented junior offensive tackle from Carvers Bay Early College and Career High School in Hemingway, SC, recognized for his exceptional football skills and community involvement. He has earned All-State, All-Region, and Rivals 4-star honors, and is rated the #1 player in South Carolina at his position. With over 25 athletic offers, Guiles stays active in his community through the National Honor Society, participating in trash pickups, canned food drives, FCA, and helping with his church’s media team Cal Pitts, a senior offensive tackle from Clinton High School, is committed to Coastal Carolina University. Pitts has been named an All State player as well as North-South Selection. He has been active in his community, cleaning up his school campus, delivering food to those in need, and assisting with Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Donovan Murph, a talented senior wide receiver from Irmo High School in Columbia, SC, is committed to playing at the University of South Carolina. Murph has collected a wide variety of football achievements, including 2x 5A First Team All-State, 2x First Team All-Region, 4-5A Offensive MVP & Player of the Year, and the Aun & McKay 2023 Outstanding Offensive Player award. Most notably, Murph has been recognized as the #1 wide receiver in South Carolina and is ranked among the Top 20 nationally. Beyond athletics, Murph has maintained a 4.127 GPA and is on track to earn a College Ready and Career Ready South Carolina Diploma Pathway Seals of Distinction. He is also a member of the Irmo High School Key Club where he volunteers his time mentoring at-risk boys at a local elementary school. Will Wilson is a senior quarterback and 4-year team captain committed to North Carolina State University from Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, SC. Wilson has earned many honors for his excellence on the football field, including 4x All-Region honors, 2024 Richland Player of the Year, All-State recognition as a junior, and the prestigious title of South Carolina Mr. Football. Off the field, he excels academically as an honor roll student and is an active member of FCA. A multi-sport athlete, he has also competed in track and basketball for Richland Northeast. Wilson also volunteers at local food banks and reads to elementary school students, making a meaningful impact in his community. Cutter Woods is an accomplished senior quarterback from Westside High School in Anderson, SC, committed to playing at the University of South Carolina. His football accolades include 2x All-State, 3x All Region, 2x Gatorade Player of the Year, 2x SC MaxPreps Player of the Year, and Shrine Bowl All-Star selection. Beyond his athletic achievements, Woods is a strong leader both on and off the field, serving as a key figure on his team and at school. He is an active member of the National Honor Society and FCA, where he takes on leadership roles to launch initiatives he is passionate about.
