Preachfest 2023 Virtual Hub

Preachfest! - 1 to 3 November 2023

CEDAL, the Commission for Education for Discipleship and Leadership, invites you to join the Virtual Hub for Preachfest! 2023. Preachfest! is a 3-day festival created to inspire and enliven the craft, art and vocation of preaching across churches in Australia.  Keynote speakers this year are Stan Grant and Amy-Jill Lewis!

The event will take place from 1 to 3 November and there is a Virtual Hub at Kalamunda Uniting Church.  Go to the event page for details.

Safe Church Refresher Workshop - 14 October

A Safe Church Refresher Workshop is taking place on Saturday 14 October from 9.00am to 12.30pm at Mount Pleasant Uniting Church, 1 Coomoora Road, Mount Pleasant WA.  If it has been 3 years since your last Safe Church workshop, ministers, pastors, church leaders, volunteers, members of congregations and those involved in community services are welcome and encouraged to attend.   • Act2 Reflects Back: So What are we Hearing? Act2 Project Lead Andrew Johnson reflects back on what the team is hearing from across the UCA as they support people to engage with its latest report.

  • Meet Rev David Jackson - in the latest 'Humans of the Uniting Church' series they head to Mid-West WA where Rev David Jackson is the Disaster Recovery Bush Chaplain with Frontier Services. 

  • Fundamentals of Transitional Ministry is a 3-day program designed to give participants an introduction to the key concepts and practices of ministering with congregations and agencies in times of transition. This course is organised by NSW ACT's Uniting Mission and Education Unit. and will be facilitated by Rev Dr Niall McKay, Educator for Lifelong Learning. The course is available online via Zoom on: 10, 17 & 18 October. Information and registration here.

  • Care for Creation: A Wellspring and Iona Listening pilgrimage - The Wellspring Community Australia and the Iona Community, Scotland are enabling dialogues between First Nations and Celtic voices around Caring for Creation on country in towns and churches from Boorooloo (Perth) to Meanjin (Brisbane) across 8 states and territories from late  September to the end of October. 
    In WA two fun events will involve the pilgrimage team of environmental activist Lisa Wriley, Co-leader of Wellspring Community, Revd Ruth Harvey, Leader of the Iona Community and Brooke Prentis, Wakka Wakka woman and Aboriginal Christian leader. To join the "Reflections on Wadjemup" (Rottnest Island) 29 September and the "Singing and Yarning on Country in Kings Park Boorooloo (Perth)" with the Madjitil Moorno choir the morning of Saturday 30 September, go to the website or email admin@wellspringcommunity.org.au 

  • Rockingham Uniting Church are hosting a free concert with musician Hayden Wiseman who will play some beautiful hymns and worship songs with his violin on Sunday 24 September at 9.30am.  There will be a retiring offering after the worship service to support Hayden and his work.  For details contact Rev Toby Keva on toby.keva@me.com

  • Revive December Edition - Our next Revive Magazine is in the planning stages.  If you have a story from your congregation for consideration of the editor please get in touch with Wendy Hendry by email - revive@wa.uca.org.au or phone 9260 9800 to discuss. The submission deadline is Monday 16 October 2023.
