Together, we’re inspiring curiosity, opportunity, and change for students across the Bay Area. No images? Click here Scaling Impact & Shaping FuturesDear Friends, At the Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SV[e]F), we believe that bold systems change begins with intentional action grounded in data, community needs, and a shared commitment to equitable outcomes. From the launch of our 2025 summer programs across 22 districts to continued advocacy in Sacramento, our team is working at every level to ensure students have access to the learning experiences, mentorship, and policy conditions they need to thrive. We are laying the groundwork for scalable, systemic impact through strategic partnerships, data-informed advocacy, and community-centered design. Thank you for walking alongside us in this work. This summer, SV[e]F is proud to partner with 22 school districts to launch our Summer 2025 STEM Programs, directly serving more than 3,500 students in grades 3 through 10 with the support of over 150 teachers! These four-week experiences focus on high-impact, hands-on learning opportunities to spark innovation, build confidence, and prepare students for tomorrow's careers. As we prepare for launch, we kicked off implementation with our first-ever Full Scoop Professional Learning Weekend, held on May 17–18 at Independence High School in Eastside San José. This convening brought together nearly 300 educators, coaches, college mentors, and teaching assistants to align around curriculum goals, explore new instructional practices, and foster a shared understanding of our program vision. Participants engaged in content-specific training, equity-centered teaching strategies, and collaborative planning sessions that reflect our commitment to excellence in instruction and student engagement. These investments in professional learning are critical to delivering consistent, high-quality STEM instruction, ensuring every student, in every classroom, receives an experience that is rigorous, relevant, and relationship-driven. Advocacy in Action: SB 743 and the Fight for Funding EquityOn April 9th, SV[e]F joined partners, educators, students, and legislative allies in Sacramento to testify at the Senate Education Committee Hearing, in support of Senate Bill 743: The Education Equalization Act, introduced by Senator Dave Cortese. SB 743 proposes a constitutional amendment to establish an Education Equalization Reserve Account that would support students in districts disproportionately underfunded due to the state's reliance on local property taxes. The bill aims to reduce long-standing disparities between basic aid and non-basic aid districts, addressing structural inequities that have gone unchallenged for decades. During the Capitol visit, our coalition delivered a clear message: a student’s access to quality education should not be determined by their zip code. SV[e]F’s presence—alongside students, school leaders, and nonprofit partners—demonstrated the power of coalition-based advocacy. With your continued support, we will continue to push for policies that advance long-term investment, accountability, and student-centered funding reform because all students deserve equal opportunities. To learn more or to take action in support of SB 743! As we prepare to serve over 3,500 students and 150 teachers this summer with hands-on STEM programming, we’re not just launching another initiative. We’re laying the groundwork for lasting impact.Through our Close the Gap campaign, we invite you to join us in advancing opportunity and sparking possibility for students across the Bay Area. A one-time donation or a monthly gift helps ensure that more students have access to career-connected learning, dedicated mentors, and real-world experiences that build confidence and purpose—long after the summer ends. ![]() Welcoming Our New Board Members: Champions for an Equitable FutureOur mission to deliver and advocate for equitable STEM education that inspires and prepares students for college and careers is driven forward by leaders who share this commitment.
