LOCAL TIP

Favourite surf spot?

"It's got to be
Lefties. I can ride my bike down, and it's an epic high-quality wave that's always reliable. It's a left hander which suits me as a goofy rider, and there's often a few friends down there to catch up with."

- Dave Macaulay, 2018 WSL Champion and local surf legend.

DJERAN SEASON

According to the six seasons of Wadandi Boodja, around April and May is Djeran or 'Season of the Adulthood'.

Djeran signifies the start of cooler weather with dewy mornings and the falling of leaves on deciduous trees. It is noted for south westerly winds, an abundance of native flowers in bloom, and trees in fruit. There is fishing in lakes, dams and estuaries – Ngari (salmon) in particular are plentiful.

3 DAY FAMILY HOLIDAY IN AUGUSTA

Augusta is the Margaret River Region’s best kept secret, and the quintessential family holiday town for rest, recuperation and reconnection. Here the jarrah and marri trees give way to the towering karri forest of the Valley of the Giants, and the Indian Ocean greets its raw and unpredictable Southern cousin. Augusta is also home to the South West’s largest waterway, the Blackwood River, which cuts a swathe through hidden valleys and secluded woodlands ready to be explored.
