Last call to join BioGateway China delegation No images? Click here August Edition 2026 Message from the CEO Good afternoon, We’re celebrating the five medtech device companies selected to receive funding and commercialisation support through our Targeted Translation Research Accelerator. It is an investment of $4.2 million in home-grown cardiovascular innovations from two companies in Western Australia and one each from South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. Their innovations include an early test for deep vein thrombosis, a new approach to heart valve replacement, an AI-software platform for analysis of arterial disease, a pulse sensing device to improve CPR and paediatric vascular access technology for critical care. Congratulations to Corametix (WA), Kynetyka Technologies (SA), Navi Medical Technologies (VIC), Navier Medical (WA) and Pulsatile Innovations (NSW) - our team is looking forward to working with you and we can’t wait to see what you achieve in the coming years. The benefit of our accelerator programs is working with in-house specialists and industry partners giving them the best chances of building sovereign success to reach commercial proof-of-concept – and all with the backing of the Medical Research Future Fund. With our ongoing focus on international markets and global supply chains, we are expanding our activities in China, one of the world's most dynamic and intriguing life sciences ecosystems. Under our recently launched BioGateway China initiative and with backing from our MoU partner, the Shanghai Center of Biomedicine Development/Science and Technology Commission of the Shanghai Municipality, we’re excited to be taking a delegation of Australian life science innovators to Shanghai and Suzhou from 23-27 November this year. With a two-track program, the mission is being tailored to cater for companies seeking ecosystem immersion (startups, researchers) or executive partnering (clinical trial associated organisations seeking commercial opportunities). It’s about providing companies with a unique entre to better understand China’s life sciences landscape, build meaningful connections and identify opportunities for growth. If you're already active in China, or curious about the opportunities there, I'd encourage you to join the delegation – registrations are closing on 16 October 2026 with limited places, so don’t miss out. We held an information session recently to run through the details. In other international news, we announced the Australian medtech delegation bound for Boston US later in October. And it’s a standout group including: Australis Scientific, !ProHeme Diagnostics, EMVision Medical Devices, Wavewise Analytics, Kynetyka Technologies Pty Ltd, Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA), Planet Innovation, Vysena Medical, Mobius Medical, Innovate Medtech, Invetech, Sleeptite and Exa Product Development. The Team Australia mission, led by our Board Chair The Hon. Jaala Pulford, will be taking on Boston with a top-notch site visit program, an added stop in New York City for a pitch session with US investors, and co-exhibitor status on the Australian Pavilion for these companies who will be receiving support from AUScelerate’s on-the-ground concierge service. And a reminder to mark your calendars for 14-16 December 2026 as BIO Middle East, the region’s premier biotechnology and life sciences event, launches in the thriving heart of Riyadh. Our trade mission and site visit program (13 December) is coming together and you can join us by registering. In our podcast this month, meet Roam Technologies co-founders Natalie Ho and CEO ShanShan Wang – an award-winning Australian medtech startup developing JUNO, the world’s first tankless, portable oxygen device. They have been exploring the US market over the last few years and joined several AUScelerate US missions, and just wrapped up a stint at the Texas Medical Center HealthTech Accelerator. An inspirational startup success story! We will be taking part in the 'Australia-China BioInnovation Roundtable' and the 'New Approach Methods in Australian Biotech forum', both official satellite events to AusBiotech’s ‘Biggest Week in Biotech’ conference in October on the Gold Coast. Both promise fascinating discussions and hope to see you there. Thank you connecting with us and you’ll find more details below about exciting events and opportunities coming up over the next few months. Kind regards, Stuart Dignam
