Welcome to our monthly SUCCESS ECHO online meeting to provide peer-to-peer and expert support to multi-sectoral teams answering the WHO call to scale up cervical cancer prevention in the Indo-Pacific region.
This month’s meeting is on Wednesday the 23rd August, 5:00-5:45pm Melbourne time (UTC+10), focusing on the topic of HPV vaccination and cervical cancer control in Thailand and Bangladesh.

Dr. Suleeporn Sangrajrang
Suleeporn Sangrajrang, Ph.D., is a research scientist at the National Cancer Institute in Bangkok, Thailand. Currently, she also serves as the Deputy Director of Health System Development for the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Sangrajrang's work focuses on model development of organised cancer screening in Thailand. She plays an important role in the National Cancer Control Program, and its implementation to rural health regions. Dr. Sangrajrang is also involved in the Thailand Cancer Registry, and has helped other countries in South-East Asia to set up population-based Cancer registries. She has
had over 100 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals.
Professor Dr. Md. Habibullah Talukder Ruskin
Habibullah Talukder, MBBS, MPH is Bangladesh's first cancer epidemiologist and preventive oncologist, and has just retired from his position as Professor and Head of Cancer Epidemiology at the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital, Dhaka (which he held since 2004). He is a pioneer in breast and cervical cancer screening and awareness in Bangladesh. Dr. Talukder co-ordinated the country’s first hospital-based cancer registry at NICRH and contributed to the development of national strategies and plans of action related to cancer,
NCDs and tobacco control. Dr. Talukder has also published 13 articles in national and international journals, and speaks regularly on television and radio on the subject of cancer awareness.

The HPV vaccination experience and broader cervical cancer control
Dr Suleeporn Sangrajrang will dicuss the journey of HPV vaccination and broader cervical cancer control measures in Thailand. Dr Ruskin has been intimately involved in the pilot project and planning related to the introduction of the HPV vaccine in Bangladesh. He will share his experience as a case study: the challenges, key success factors and status of the forthcoming HPV vaccine roll-out.
The ECHO facilitators will invite participants to comment and ask questions, and will then ask you to share experience from your own country contexts.
