Our Year 11 pupils have been on a thought-provoking trip to visit battlefields in Belgium and Ypres. Our School News includes their itinerary and a photographic gallery of the trip. The image in the newsletter banner (above) is of Harry (Y11, P) who played an important role in acts of remembrance that took place at Tyne Cot cemetery and the Menin Gate. The latter is a site for a famous daily service and Harry did a superb job in front of hundreds of people. We are delighted to be announced as a finalist in the Independent School of the Year Awards for Sporting Achievement - an honour based on our approach to everyday improvement and sport as a successful vehicle for health and wellbeing of our pupils. It's always hard to choose a highlight from our sports teams activities over the past fortnight, but as they prepare for the English Schools' Fell-Running Championships we'll shine a spotlight on our runners at the recent Ulverston 5km road race. Dan (Y13 S) achieved 2nd place overall and Julia (Y9 L) was first U18 female. Visit SED Sports, our new online sports report, to see all results! Lastly a reminder to book your tickets for the Parents in-house dinner (various dates depending upon the House), the Scholars' Recital on 1st October and A Night at the Musicals on 6th October. " What is Humility and Why Does it Matter?Humility is the first – and possibly most under-estimated – of Sedbergh’s four core HARK values. While academic subjects are a core focus of Sedbergh School, we also aim to prepare our pupils for the challenges and responsibilities they will face in adulthood. Humility is one of our core values because it equips our pupils with essential life skills and attitudes that contribute to their overall success, well-being, and positive contributions to society as they transition into life after Sedbergh.
