Congratulations to former KL2 Scholar Heather Feldner on NIH R01 Grant Award! We are thrilled to announce that former ITHS KL2 scholar, Heather Feldner, PT, PhD, PCS, has received her first NIH R01 funding for her project addressing ableism and health disparities. Heather and her team at the University of Pittsburgh will be examining the experiences of perceived ableism among individuals with mobility-related disabilities receiving rehabilitation care, investigating provider bias, and exploring innovative methods such as Natural Language Processing to detect ableist language in medical charting. This groundbreaking research positions Heather at the forefront of advancing
equity in healthcare, and we are proud to celebrate her achievement!
The Institute of Translational Health Sciences (ITHS) moves research from one phase of the translational science spectrum to the next, and helps others to do the same. From bench to bedside: we take great ideas and help turn them into reality with the aim of improving health outcomes across the spectrum.
