It is not yet recommended for others such as transgender and gender diverse people, heterosexual men and women, or people who inject drugs. PrEP on-demand is taken in ‘PrEParation’ for safe sexual experiences, with a short-term dosing regimen known as ‘2-1-1’. The prescribed dosing schedule ‘2-1-1’ involves taking a double dose between two and 24 hours before sex, single dose 24 hours after the initial double dose, and a final single dose 24 hours after that. To find out more, review the ASHM PrEp Guidelines, AFAO On-Demand PrEP Factsheet and Ending HIV – PrEP on Demand Dosing Guide.
