Faith Communities Call for Fossil Fuel Phase Out
On Tuesday 17 September, multi-faith leaders from across the country gathered at Cathedrals and places of worship to launch a display of public banners marking the national Week of Action: “Faiths for Climate Justice” led by the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC).
The Perth Multi-Faith Banner Launch and Blessing took place outside St Mary's Cathedral in the city. Rev Hollis Wilson, Minister at Uniting Church in the City, Wesley, spoke at the event alongside representatives from the Anglican, Catholic, Quaker and Buddhist faith traditions. Rev Ken Devereux, retired Uniting Church minister, and Vice-President of ARRCC WA helped coordinate the event.
Stories from the Pilbara Patrol
Rev David Jackson is currently serving as a Frontier Services Bush Chaplain in the Pilbara. David shares a glimpse of life as a bush chaplain in an area that’s double the size of Victoria, where the average patrol covers in excess of 2000km.

Safe Church Awareness Workshops
Safe Church Awareness training presented by the Uniting Church Western Australia Culture of Safety unit are offered to help all church members understand their responsibilities and develop policies and practices that create safety in their church. The workshops are now scheduled:
Saturday 12 October, 9.00am to 2.00pm at Immanuel Methodist Church, Manning.
Friday 25 October, 9.00am to 2.00pm at Margaret River Uniting Church.
Saturday 2 November, 9.00am to 2.00pm at St Augustine Uniting Church, Bunbury.

UCEF Upcoming Events Poster

Global Vigil for Al MakhrourThe Palestinian Christians in Australia WA and the UCWA Social Justice Commission are co-hosting an inter-faith vigil to pray for the safety and restoration of the Kisiya family, who have been forcibly evicted from their home and farm near Bethlehem. They are the last of the Palestinian Christians in that valley which is now being illegally occupied by settlers. The vigil will be held on Saturday 28 September, 5.00pm to 6.00pm at Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Church, 165 Central Ave, Mount Lawley. Street parking available. |

- Sixth Anniversary of National Apology (UCA) - to mark the sixth anniversary of the National Apology to Victims and Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (22 October), the Assembly has released a liturgy and a statement from President Rev Charissa Suli.
- Faith Leaders Rally for Climate (UCA) - Uniting Church ministers, leaders and congregations were among those who rallied for action on the climate crisis last week as part of the Multifaith Week of Action led by the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change.
- Earth Wisdom - Hope in Action (ARRCC) - Join in the national ARRCC Conference Online during the weekend 4 to 6 October 2024. The main plenary presentations will be available via livestream. See here for more information and register before 30 September. Virtual registration is $40. Note presentation times are based in Sydney, with daylight savings starting on Sunday 6 October.
Family Fun Night - NorthWay Uniting Church and Trinity North Uniting Church invite you to a Family Fun Night on Friday 11 October 2024 at Cousins Hall, St Stephen’s School, Duncraig starting at 6pm. This will be a social family fun night of dancing, games, raffles, prizes and a live band in attendance. BYO food and drinks. Tickets are $15, with proceeds going towards the mission outreach of both churches.
Charity Gala Concert - featuring the Perth Male Voice Choir and Circle of Friends Ladies Choir, Sunday 27 October, 3.00pm at St Stephen's School Theatre, Duncraig. This wonderful afternoon of music and song is organised by Northway Uniting Church Caring Hands in conjunction with Joondalup CWA to raise funds for Grandcarers WA (Grandparents Raising Grandchildren).
