December 2022

Welcome to our first edition of the Learning Links Sector Capacity Building Newsletter - Inclusion Links. It has been an exciting journey as Learning Links has established our SCB Program across South West Sydney. We appreciate how hard you have all been working this year accommodating the ever-changing dynamics across the early childhood sector.

Through challenges such as staffing levels, new funding guidelines and adjustments to fees and enrolments, you have all shown continued resilience and commitment to supporting children, and their families, with disability and additional needs.

We hope that with our support you will continue to build your skills and passion to ensure all children with disability and additional needs can access high quality inclusive early childhood programs and have the best start to their education journey.

It has been wonderful getting to know all of your preschools and discovering the amazing programs you have in place to support children with additional needs. I know many of you are counting the days to your deserved break. I encourage you during your time off to reflect on your achievements and recognise the positive impact you have made for many children and families.

We thank you all for your participation with the SCB Program and look forward to building our partnership further in 2023.

December Focus: Speech and Language

Speech, language and communication is always a hot topic for the early childhood sector and inclusive practices. Communication is vital to assist children in expressing themselves and in navigating the routines and social dynamics of the preschool environment. We have put together some resources to support the implementation of programs that support children’s communication.

Stuttering Tip Sheet

This month's Tip Sheet provides information to help with understanding stuttering and how to support children when it is noticed that they have a stutter.
