Do you remember the first time you imagined what your garden could look like? One gardener friend of ours knew from childhood and turned that vision into reality. If you’ve been wanting to bring more color to your own garden, our next webinar with Jan Johnsen is for you. Plus, it’s National Native Plant Month, so we have plenty of plant lists and ideas to share.

Hydrangea Haven

“I remember thinking, that porch needs hydrangeas,” says Skye. As a child, Skye Hamilton of Hamilton House Designs fell in love with the storybook gardens in books like The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett and Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. So when she found a farmhouse for sale in Idaho, she could already picture what it might become. It was the perfect place to begin creating a garden of her own, starting with hydrangeas around the porch.

Wonderful Memories

Great Dixter opened April 1, bringing back such wonderful memories.

I realize great gardens aren’t maintained, they’re edited. Legacy isn’t preservation, but thoughtful change (Fergus Garrett).

Every bold combination reflects experimentation, not chaos. And time itself is a design material; you’re not just shaping space, you’re shaping what it becomes, season after season, year after year.

Let’s make this our best gardening season ever! Time is a design material. Noodle on that one.
