New Town Retail Precinct Upgrade - March Update

Project update

The construction in the New Town Precinct is tracking well with great efforts from the project team and the New Town community.

This month has seen new pavers installed outside Jackman and McRoss, as well as the installation of traffic islands, bollards and new kerbs at the Cross Street intersection.

Weather permitting, the City of Hobart is working towards opening a safe and operational road at the intersection of Cross and Valentine streets from 3 April to help support local businesses trade during the Easter period.

Construction works along New Town Road, in front of Archive Antiques and Books and Dispatch Café commenced last week, with MSD Civil Services working with the businesses in the area to minimise impacts on trade.

Upcoming works

Next month the City will start construction on the northern side of Cross Street.
