As we approach the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MONDIACULT 2025 – held in Barcelona, Spain from 29 September to 1 October, the cultural and creative sectors stand at a pivotal moment. Building on our journey from the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture in Seoul, Republic of Korea, Charting the future of arts and culture, concluding with our Summit Report which outlines seven key takeaways, MONDIACULT 2025 represents a critical milestone to come together through international dialogue and cooperation to affirm culture's sustainable future. Moreover, it is a decisive moment to cement culture’s role within the United Nations development framework.
OUR DOSSIER
For our part, key to our participation in MONDIACULT is our reflections on the issues at hand. As such, we published our Dossier for MONDIACULT 2025: Charting the future: Culture as our compass, which offers perspective on priorities and considerations for the future as a contribution to MONDIACULT 2025 and presents a set of key findings and recommendations. Our Dossier is now available in English, Spanish, French and Catalan.
OUR DELEGATION
In terms of our participation in Barcelona, IFACCA will bring an extensive delegation of IFACCA Members from across all regions of the world to MONDIACULT 2025, led by our new Chair of the IFACCA Board, Ms Kajsa Ravin, Director General of the Swedish Arts Council. Moreover, on the 29 September 2025, IFACCA will host one the official side events titled Sustainable pathways for charting the future of arts and culture: In conversation with public
agencies in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Spain to collectively assess opportunities and challenges towards reimagining sustainable pathways for the value of culture, its investment and diverse types of support.

Our panel includes: Michelle Chawla, Director and CEO, Canada Council for the Arts; Gretta Gaspar, Administrator, National Arts Council of Namibia; Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director General, International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Viet Nam; Robert Piaskowski, Director, National Centre for Culture, Poland; Kajsa Ravin, Director General, Swedish Arts Council (and Chair of IFACCA) and Frances Koya Vaka'uta, Team Leader Culture for Development, Pacific Community. IN OTHER HEADLINES
While all eyes are on MONDIACULT 2025 this month, news headlines highlight international collaboration and partnerships across regions. Last week, the Forum of Vice Ministers and High Authorities of Culture, the governing body of the Ibero-American Programme for Cultural and Creative Industries (PIICC) was held, with the participation of representatives from 12 countries in the Americas region. This body approved a position statement for MONDIACULT 2025 and among its proposals was to establish culture as a ‘stand-alone’ goal.
In the Pacific, IFACCA was honoured to attend the 42nd Meeting of the Council of Pacific Arts and Culture in Nouméa, New Caledonia on 2 September. These meetings at the Pacific Community (SPC) headquarters resulted in New Caledonia being officially endorsed to host the 14th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC14) in 2028, celebrating the cultural diversity of Melanesia, Polynesia, and Micronesia. In Asia, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Republic Korea hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High-Level Dialogue on Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI), where a joint statement was adopted confirming the economic influence of culture and the role of CCIs as a catalyst for economic growth within APEC.
In Africa, partnerships and bilateral agreements were highlighted including a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the National Arts Council of South Africa and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) to deepen cooperation in the creative and cultural sectors. And in Europe, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia hosted the Health and Work conference exploring arts and culture's impact on well-being and
highlighted the Ministry’s initiative in cooperating with health sector partners to integrate culture into strategic mental health documents.

IFACCA attends 42nd Meeting of the Council of Pacific Arts and Culture (CPAC)

IFACCA was honoured to be present at the 42nd Meeting of the Council of Pacific Arts and Culture (CPAC) at the Pacific Community (SPC) headquarters in Noumea, New Caledonia on 2 September 2025.
The gathering brought together senior culture officials from 27 countries and territories to share learnings of cultural safeguarding and promote cultural heritage, contemporary expression and shared identity. The meetings commenced with a customary welcome ceremony attended by the President of New Caledonia, H.E. Alcide Ponga, alongside traditional leaders and several Pacific Ministers of Culture.
The 42nd Meeting of CPAC informed the 8th Meeting of the Pacific Ministers for Culture, guiding discussions on the Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture and advancing the Pacific Regional Culture Strategy 2022–2032, amongst others.

New Chair of the IFACCA Board

The IFACCA Board met on 24 July 2025 and unanimously elected Ms Kajsa Ravin, Director General of the Swedish Arts Council the next Chair of the Board.
Ms Ravin, who previously served as a Director on the IFACCA Board, commenced as Chair on 1 September 2025, and will lead the IFACCA Delegation at MONDIACULT 2025. In accepting the position, Ms Ravin stated, “I am honoured and humbled to step up as Chair of IFACCA, and together with the Executive Director represent the IFACCA community, when the world comes together to discuss and deliver on the polycrises of our time at MONDIACULT 2025.”
IFACCA Executive Director, Ms Magdalena Moreno Mujica affirmed, “Kajsa Ravin has been an active member and champion of IFACCA for some time, having hosted the 9th World Summit on Arts and Culture in Stockholm, Sweden in 2023 on safeguarding artistic freedom, participating in a range of initiatives providing strategic advice, and most recently appointed to the World Summit Committee for the Board. I am thrilled with her appointment and look forward to working very closely with Ms Ravin.”
Ms Ravin succeeds Ms Kristin Danielsen, CEO of Arts and Culture Norway, as Chair, who has stepped down to take on a new role as Director of the Nordic Culture Fund. Of Ms Danielsen’s term, Ms Ravin said, “Ms Danielsen has been my close colleague as Norway and Sweden are sibling countries in the north and I have had the privilege to follow her in her role at Arts and Culture Norway, as Co-chair of the Europe Chapter and as Chair of the IFACCA Board. Ms Danielsen has been an exemplary Chair showing the strength and value of IFACCA to new and existing members as well as cultural leaders and policy makers around the world.”

We are very pleased to share the French and Catalan versions of our Dossier for MONDIACULT 2025 titled Charting the future: culture as our compass. We are most grateful to the Canada Council for the Arts for their generous support in enabling the French version of our dossier and Consell Nacional de la Cultura i de les Arts – CoNCA for their generous support in enabling the Catalan version.
Drawing on expertise from the IFACCA Secretariat, our Federation, and insights from 406 delegates from over 90 countries shared at the 10th World Summit, this dossier presents our insights and recommendations on thematics areas at MONDIACULT 2025 and on priorities for the post-2030 agenda. As governments and policymakers prepare for MONDIACULT 2025, we hope our perspective contributes to the critical debates and helps to find solutions for now and the future.

10th World Summit Report available in Korean

Last month we released the Spanish version of our Report on the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture co-hosted with Arts Council Korea (ARKO), which captures the vital discussions that took place during the Summit in Seoul, Republic of Korea in May 2025, where over 400 delegates from more than 90 countries gathered under the theme Charting the future of arts and culture. This month we are pleased to release the 10th World Summit Report in Korean.
The Summit Report presents key takeaways and calls for action as we navigate a global context defined by crises, conflict and rapid change. As we approach the development of a new agenda for global governance post-2030, the discussions from the Summit provide crucial insights that will help us position culture as a priority and turn commitments into concrete actions.

ART SG to Organise S.E.A. Focus from 2026

S.E.A. Focus, a major contemporary Southeast Asian Art event in Singapore, will be organised by ART SG starting in 2026. This marks a new chapter for the event, which was founded and successfully delivered for seven years by STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery (STPI). Emi Eu, Executive Director of STPI, will remain as the artistic consultant alongside John Tung as the curator for the 2026 edition.

MSG Secretariat strengthens cultural ties with SPC at CPAC Meeting in Noumea

During their discussions, Dr Minchin acknowledged the MSG Secretariat for hosting SPC’s office in Port Vila, Vanuatu. OTROS TITULARES INTERNACIONALES
Con todas las miradas puestas este mes en MONDIACULT 2025, los titulares internacionales destacan diversas colaboraciones en todas las regiones del mundo. La semana pasada, el Foro de Viceministros y Altas Autoridades de Cultura, el órgano rector del Programa Iberoamericano para las Industrias Culturales y Creativas (PIICC) aprobó, con la participación de 12 países de las Américas, una toma de postura para MONDIACULT 2025 que incluía el establecimiento de la cultura como objetivo específico de desarrollo.
En el Pacífico, IFACCA tuvo el honor de asistir a la 42ª Reunión del Consejo de Artes y Cultura del Pacífico en Noumea, Nueva Caledonia, el 2 de septiembre. Ambas reuniones, celebradas en la sede de la Comunidad del Pacífico (SPC), concluyeron con el apoyo oficial a la celebración en Nueva Caledonia del 14ª Festival de Artes y Cultura del Pacífico (FestPAC14) en 2028, que celebra la diversidad cultural de Melanesia, Polinesia y Micronesia. En
Asia, el Ministerio de Cultura, Deportes y Turismo de la República de Corea organizó el Diálogo de Alto Nivel sobre las Industrias Creativas y Culturales de APEC (Cooperación Económica Asia-Pacífico), que concluyó con la adopción de una declaración conjunta afirmando la influencia económica de la cultura y el papel de las industrias culturales y creativas como catalizadoras de crecimiento económico en APEC.
En África, entre las colaboraciones destacadas se cuenta un nuevo Memorando de Entendimiento (MoU) entre el Consejo Nacional de las Artes de Sudáfrica y la Federación de Círculos Literarios y Artísticos de China (CFLAC) para estrechar la colaboración en los sectores culturales y creativos. En Europa, el Ministerio de Cultura de la República de Eslovenia organizó el congreso Salud y Trabajo, analizando el impacto de las artes y la cultura en el
bienestar y destacando la iniciativa de cooperación del Ministerio con socios del sector de la salud para integrar la cultura en la documentación estratégica sobre salud mental.

IFACCA participa en la 42ª Reunión del Consejo de Artes y Cultura del Pacífico (CPAC)

IFACCA tuvo el honor de participar en la la 42ª Reunión del Consejo de Artes y Cultura del Pacífico (CPAC) en la sede de la Comunidad del Pacífico (SPC) en Noumea, Nueva Caledonia, el 2 de septiembre de 2025.
El encuentro reunió a altos cargos de cultura de 27 países y territorios para compartir conocimientos sobre la salvaguarda cultural y la promoción del patrimonio cultural, la expresión contemporánea y la identidad compartida. La reunión empezó con una ceremonia tradicional de bienvenida con la asistencia del presidente de Nueva Caledonia, H.E. Alcide Ponga, junto con líderes tradicionales y diversos ministros(as) de Cultura del Pacífico.
La 42ª reunión del CPAC es el foro previo de la 8ª Reunión de los(as) ministros(as) de Cultura del Pacífico, orientando las conversaciones sobre el Festival de Artes y Cultura del Pacífico y avanzando en la Estrategia Regional de Cultura del Pacífico 2022–2032, entre otros temas.

Nueva presidenta de la Junta Directiva de IFACCA

La Junta de IFACCA se reunió el 24 de julio de 2025 y eligió a Kajsa Ravin, directora general del Consejo de las Artes de Suecia, nueva presidenta por unanimidad.
La Sra Ravin, que ejerció anteriormente como vocal de la Junta de IFACCA, empezó su mandato como presidenta el 1 de septiembre de 2025, liderando la delegación de IFACCA en MONDIACULT 2025. Al tomar el cargo, la Sra. Ravin declaró que “acepto con humildad el cargo de presidenta de la Junta de IFACCA y me honrará representar la comunidad de IFACCA junto con la directora ejecutiva en MONDIACULT 2025, cuando el mundo se reúna para analizar y abordar efectivamente las policrisis de nuestros tiempos”.
La directora ejecutiva de IFACCA, Sra. Magdalena Moreno Mujica, declaro que “Kajsa Ravin ha sido un miembro activo y destacado de IFACCA desde hace tiempo. Suecia acogió la 9ª Cumbre Mundial de las Artes y la Cultura en Estocolmo en 2023 sobre la salvaguarda de la libertad artística. La Sra Ravin ha participado en diversas iniciativas con asesoramiento estratégico y recientemente fue elegida miembro del Comité de la Cumbre Mundial en representación de la Junta Directiva. Me entusiasma su elección y espero trabajar muy estrechamente con ella.”
La Sra. Ravin sucede en el cargo a la Sra. Kristin Danielsen, directora general (CEO) de Artes y Cultura de Noruega, que deja el cargo para dirigir el Fondo Nórdico de Cultura. La Sra. Ravin comentó que “la Sra. Danielsen y yo hemos colaborado estrechamente, ya que Noruega y Suecia son países hermanos en el norte y he tenido el privilegio de seguir su carrera en Artes y Cultura de Noruega, como copresidenta del Capítulo de Europa y como presidenta de la Junta de IFACCA. La Sra. Danielsen ha sido una presidenta ejemplar, que ha mostrado el valor y la fortaleza de IFACCA para todos sus miembros, nuevos y actuales, además de a líderes culturales y decisores políticos de todo el mundo”.

Basándonos en la experiencia del Secretariado de IFACCA, nuestra Federación, y en las aportaciones de 406 delegados(as) de más de 90 países compartidas en la 10ª Cumbre Mundial, este dossier presenta nuestras ideas clave y recomendaciones sobre las áreas temáticas de la Conferencia Mundial de la UNESCO sobre Políticas Culturales y Desarrollo Sostenible - MONDIACULT 2025 y sobre las prioridades para la agenda posterior a 2030. Mientras los gobiernos y los responsables de la elaboración de políticas se preparan para MONDIACULT 2025, esperamos que nuestra perspectiva contribuya a los debates críticos y ayude a conseguir soluciones para el presente y el futuro.

Los informes de la 10ª Cumbre Mundial, disponibles en coreano

El mes pasado publicamos la versión en español de nuestro Informe de la 10ª Cumbre Mundial de las Artes y la Cultura coorganizada con el Consejo de las Artes de Corea (ARKO), que recoge los debates importantísimos que se celebraron durante la Cumbre en Seúl, República de Corea, en mayo de 2025, con la presencia de más de 400 delegados(as) de más de 90 países reunidos con el tema Trazando el futuro para las artes y la cultura. Este mes nos alegra publicar el informe de la 10ª Cumbre Mundial en coreano.
El informe de la Cumbre presenta las principales enseñanzas y llamados a la acción en un contexto global definido por las crisis, los conflictos y los cambios vertiginosos. En los albores del desarrollo de una nueva agenda para la gobernanza internacional posterior a 2030, las discusiones de la Cumbre ofrecen perspectivas cruciales para ayudar a posicionar la cultura como una prioridad y convertir los compromisos en acciones concretas.

El Minculturas abre ‘Colombia en el Mundo: Portafolio Cultural Internacional’

Colombia en el Mundo: Portafolio Cultural Internacional es la gran apuesta del Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y los Saberes para cofinanciar, apoyar y fortalecer los proyectos de colombianos en el exterior y de los creadores, sabedores y artistas de la diáspora cultural colombiana.
