Team Building Trends for the New YearOur team is thrilled start off 2024 by sharing top team building trends for the New Year! In 2022, Wildly Different produced just over 250 events, with one third being virtual. In 2023, we increased that number to over 270 team building events, with less than one fourth being for virtual or hybrid groups. It’s exciting to see a steady increase in the trend of groups meeting face to face. For the second year in a row, our top selling in-person team building events were Hunts (done in theme parks, resorts, downtown/city centers, and beyond), followed closely by charitable team building activities (like the Red Wagon Brigade, Reading Rocks, and ArCANtecture), Game Shows (Movie Madness Game Show and Pub Quiz), and our Unlock the Mystery event. With charity driven team building activities continually growing in popularity, our team has created several new events that feature a give back component. This month, we’re highlighting an event that combines a scavenger hunt with fun challenges while giving back to children… Book SmartTeams receive a book bag and access to an app hosting the Book Smart game. Teams use the app to locate GPS coordinates they must visit to unlock challenges! Sample challenges include: Trivia Questions – These highlight the charitable theme of the event, popular books, and authors. Photo and Video Challenges – Teams take photos or videos of themselves completing various tasks such as recreating the scene on the cover of a famous book or giving a humorous review of a classic book as if it has just been released. Physical Challenges – Teams complete physical challenges to earn books such as creating and racing a “very hungry caterpillar or completing a “magical” obstacle course. Clues & Puzzles – Teams may have to figure out rebus puzzles and other brainteasers. When time is up, teams reassemble and deposit their backpacks and books into bins that will be taken to the non-profit to distribute into the community. Then, teams will learn all about the charity benefitting from their efforts and receive a thank you for their generous donation. Of course, the event concludes with the top team coming forward to collect their award medals! Book SwapJanuary 8th is world literary day. So, start the first “full” week back in the office after the New Year by bringing your group together to celebrate reading. Invite everyone from your organization to bring their favorite book into the office and host a book swap lunch. Everyone should take a different team member’s book home to read. Next month, host another lunch where teammates must return their books, and have an opportunity to share about the book they read. Your group will enjoy getting to reconnect after the holidays, and the chance to get to know one another better! |
