Student Experience Grants
It's not too late to apply for our Student Experiential Grants. The Grants program is open to all Health Gateway Schools. These grants support Health Gateway Schools in the development of health career activities, events and resources for their students, and to facilitate local industry and community engagement in line with the program's objectives. Health Gateway Schools are eligible to apply for grants of up to $500 per calendar year. CheckUP utilise SmartyGrants to manage the grant application and reporting process, with eligibility for funding to be determined by the Health Gateway project team in accordance with the approved Grant Guidelines. To apply, schools are required to complete an application form, which will provide details of the proposed activity, target group and anticipated outcomes. Following delivery of the activity or event, schools will be required to submit a reporting form detailing outcomes and costs involved for each approved activity. If you have any questions or require further information, please get in touch with your relevant Health Gateway Schools Coordinator.
Healthcare is Everywhere
Interactive Online Learning Tool
CheckUP recently launched the exciting new Healthcare is Everywhere interactive online learning tool targeting high school students and staff to increase awareness and knowledge of the healthcare system and the variety of careers within the health industry. Users can zoom in, scroll around and explore a hypothetical city and rural community to discover the range of health services and career opportunities available. Resources to support the uptake of the tool and education on health careers are now available for teachers on the Gateway2Health website (click on the button below). A range of marketing collateral is also available on this page for teachers to utilise when promoting the resource to students. We
encourage you to promote and disseminate this link to staff, students and other relevant contacts.
Thank you to all of our Gateway Schools
Term 3 has been busy for the team, with over 15 events all over the state. The team have enjoyed speaking to hundreds of students who visited us at our exhibitor stands and attended our information sessions. We hope the information we have passed on has inspired some of our future healthcare providers.
Welcome to our newest Health Gateway Schools
We have been very busy this term not only visiting many of our Gateway Schools to support their school expos and providing talks to students but also welcoming a lot of new schools too. We would like to officially welcome: - Canterbury College

This year the Health Gateway team would like to highlight the fantastic work that our Gateway Schools have been undertaking with their students. To showcase this fabulous work we have decided to develop a Yearbook with a double page spread dedicated to each of our schools. We will forward more details to each school within the first week of Term 4. We hope all of our wonderful Gateway Schools have a well deserved break over the coming two weeks and we look forward to further engaging with you again in Term 4!
About the Gateway Program
The Health Gateway to Industry Schools program (GISP) is a project being delivered by CheckUP in partnership with Queensland’s Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT). The project forms part of a broader Gateway to Industry Schools ("GISP") initiative which currently caters to ten distinct industry sectors. Click here to read more about DESBT's GISP projects. Want to know more about the work undertaken by CheckUP?
