Researchers estimate that 60 to 70 percent of the US population receives health information from online sources each year. The most frequent topics include diet and nutrition, exercise and fitness, specific health conditions, mental health issues, health treatment methods, and sexual and reproductive health. Health guidelines from public health agencies, health associations, and medical specialty societies are also easy to access online. In many instances, the tone of online health information—and health information in general—is advisory. It emanates from experts and points to other experts should additional information or services be needed. Exploration or investigation of other sources outside the expert’s body of knowledge is not encouraged and, though subtle, promoting compliance seems to be a primary objective. While we have come to depend on specialists for health information and guidance, we also need to draw on our own intrinsic abilities to decipher, adopt, and successfully utilize the information to achieve the highest benefits. If we want to attain higher levels of health, these inner abilities are crucial for finding, learning, and adopting the advanced health-building methods needed to generate high levels of well-being. OUR INNER ABILITIES POWER SUCCESSExamples of inner abilities include:
There are many other intrinsic abilities that we can draw on and many creative ways to use them. They enable us to recognize and meaningfully engage with key health-building concepts and methods that we might otherwise miss, even if they have been presented to us. Creativity is embedded in the willingness to use our inner resources. CREATIVITY BESTS COMPLIANCE IN BUILDING HIGH HEALTHOur tendency is to consume information rather than engage with it, and often this information encourages compliance rather than transformation. Unfortunately, much of our health information represents the status quo instead of the advanced and empowering information we need to build our health. But if we seek, we can find alternatives that serve us better. Just as good food ingredients require an intent, effective techniques, and effort to become a fine meal, we need good information, effective techniques, and creative application of our inner abilities to attain high levels of health. Fortunately, quality information, experienced mentors, and a community of support for cultivating our intrinsic abilities can easily be found in the High Health Network. Utilizing the Network is one of the easiest ways to learn how to mine our inner abilities and increase success.
