Package Treatment Plant Installation for Nutrient Neutrality

Westmorland and Furness Council, on behalf of the Nutrient Neutrality North West Partnership, is inviting tenders for the installation of package treatment plants (PTPs) as part of our work to reduce nutrient pollution in Cumbria’s sensitive catchments.

We are seeking qualified contractors with expertise in wastewater treatment solutions to help deliver this essential mitigation work. The contract will upgrade outdated septic tanks and package treatment plants, creating nutrient savings and generating nutrient credits that developers will be able to purchase later this year through a new credit trading scheme. Credits will help to ensure new housing developments are compliant with nutrient neutrality requirements.

Key Details:

  • Scope: Installation of high-efficiency package treatment plants in designated areas.
  • Eligibility: Contractors with experience in wastewater treatment, system installation and regulatory compliance. (Full details can be found in the tender document).
  • Deadline: Monday 24 March 2025, 12pm
