Join the 2023 NaNoWriMo challenge!

The site has officially been updated to allow you (and your participants!) to set your goal for NaNoWriMo 2023! 

When you go to nanowrimo.org, you should see this large blue banner on your dashboard. Select either the "Join with a new novel" or "Join with an existing novel" button to officially declare that you're all in on NaNoWriMo this year. Feel free to also encourage your participants to do this! It's a great way to get people thinking about NaNo Prep as we gear up for that season.

NaNo Prep ML event

Speaking of NaNo Prep, there was some interest in having an ML event similar to the ML write-ins we held last year, but for NaNo Prep! This will not only give you a chance to do some novel planning yourself (something you might not have a lot of time for if you're busy organizing and hosting events in your region), it'll give you some ideas for NaNo Prep events if you've never hosted one before.

We've got a poll going to find the best time for people who are interested to attend. I'll have a time and more details in my next email once the poll is closed! This is an entirely optional event, but I do think it'll be pretty fun. 

ML forum access

Because of the way our forums and main site work together, we haven't had a straightforward way to ensure that the ML forum is only accessible to current MLs. This isn't a huge deal, but it is nice to be able to ask questions and discuss things with the people who are current volunteers. We're still working on ways to automate this process, but we've done an interim workaround method for now. 

You should still have access to the ML forum if you're an ML in 2023, but we're still troubleshooting a glitch that has removed "Municipal Liaison" as the default title for some MLs.

We're working on a fix for this, but in the interim, it's still one of your available titles that you can set for yourself. If you go to your forums preferences page (just insert your username in place of mine here: https://forums.nanowrimo.org/u/sarah_mackey/preferences/account), you'll see a dropdown under "Title" on that first "Account" tab. 

You should see "Municipal Liaison" as an option in that dropdown menu. Select it, hit "Save Changes," and you should be good to go.
