2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Below we've included several images from our moving dawn service on the School's Cloisters. Whilst Sedbergh School is incredibly proud of all of our CCF cadets, we are delighted for Company Sergeant Major Marcus who was asked to travel to Normandy with a group of veterans. It was a huge honour and Marcus featured prominently in the national press. This newsletter includes a part of an interview with Marcus where he explains what the trip meant to him. "Young cadets' awareness of D-Day's meaning and their respect for our veterans is through the roof. All of my cadets took the time after the service to shake veteran's hands and say 'thank you'. Some of the cadets stayed and chatted about the veteran's experiences. They were so respectful and caring." The start of term has also seen our outstanding pupils in Year 9, 10 and 11 celebrated at our termly Commendation lunch and our A levels pupils can see the light at the end of the exam tunnel. A quick reminder that tickets for Speech Day (and lunch) and the School Leaver's Ball should be booked early.
