2023 Volunteer Grants 

Expressions of Interest

The Volunteer Grants Program supports community volunteer groups who benefit our local area.

Our electorate has total funding of up to $66,225 available for our local groups to support the efforts of their volunteers.

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help not-for-profit community organisations support their volunteers through practical measures such as:

  • Equipment for volunteers
  • Fuel costs for volunteers
  • Transport costs for volunteers
  • Fees for training courses
  • Background check fees for volunteers
  • Activities to promote awareness and increase volunteering opportunities.

This grant provides a valuable opportunity for your organisation to support your volunteers.

FEDERAL GRANTS

 

Arts Projects for Individuals and organisations

Amount: Individuals and groups $10,000 - $50,000 Organisations $20,000 - $100,000
Closing Date: 5 September 2023
Purpose: The Arts Projects Grant supports artists and arts organisations in visual arts, music, theatre, dance, literature, First Nations arts, community arts and cultural development, emerging and experimental arts and multi-arts.

AusBike Funding For Children

Purpose: To help more children enjoy the mental and physical health benefits of outdoor exercise. Parents or carers can enrol their children locally for term-based programs which will be delivered nationally by accredited instructors through cycling and riding clubs, leisure centres and private coaches. Enrolments will open for term four this year.

Australian Heritage Grants 2023-24

Amount: $25,000 - $400,000
Closing Date: 12 October 2023
Purpose: To improve recognition, conservation, preservation, and access to the National Heritage Values of National Heritage Listed places. The program also aims to increase community engagement and raise awareness of listed places.

Community Language Schools Grants Program

Amount: $30,000
Closing Date: 9 October 2023
Purpose: Grants will be available to eligible community language schools, enabling them to expand classes to pre-school aged children, purchase new resources, build quality learning environments, cover costs such as rent or teacher training, or provide fee-relief for disadvantaged students.

Defence Global Competitiveness Grants Program

Amount: $15,000 - $150,000
Closing Date: Ongoing
Purpose: To bolster a sustainable and globally competitive Australian defence industry by assisting eligible Australian SMEs in developing export capability. The program focuses on helping businesses overcome barriers to export opportunities, such as attaining international certifications/accreditations and capital item procurement.

Industrial Energy Transformation Studies Program

Amount: Up to $5 million
Closing Date: Ongoing
Purpose: To assist large energy users to undertake engineering and feasibility studies to identify opportunities to lower energy costs and reduce emissions at their facilities. Applicants can seek $100,000 to $500,000 for feasibility studies or $250,000 to $5 million for engineering studies.

Information Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) Program

Amount: $300,000 - $3 million
Closing Date: 30 November 2023
Purpose: To provide funding to organisations to deliver projects in the community that benefit all Australians with disability, their carers and families.

These projects create connections between people with disability and the communities they live in. Projects aim to build the knowledge, skills and confidence of people with disability, and improve their access to community and mainstream services.

LInc Community Grants

Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: 30 September 2023
Purpose: To fund projects that benefit the lesbian community. Groups may be racial, cultural, geographic, or may have specific identified needs or shared interests and concerns. LInc considers the children of lesbians as part of the lesbian community.

Long Tan Bursary

Amount: $12,000
Closing Date: Ongoing
Purpose: The Long Tan Bursary helps eligible children and grandchildren of Vietnam veterans pay for their tertiary education. Each year 37 bursaries are awarded to successful applicants across Australia. Each bursary is worth up to $12,000 over 3 years of continuous full-time study.

Playing Australia Program

Amount: Undisclosed
Closing Date: 10 October 2023
Purpose: To support performing art tours to reach regional and remote communities across Australia. The program supports net touring costs and other designated costs associated with tours. There is no limit on the amount that can be requested.

Powering the Regions Fund - Safeguard Transformation Stream Round 1

Amount: $500,000.00 - $50 million
Closing Date: 1 November 2024
Purpose: The outcome of this grant opportunity is a reduction of emissions at trade exposed Safeguard facilities consistent with their obligations under the 
Safeguard Mechanism.

Saluting Their Service (STS) Commemorative Grants Program

Amount: Up to $150,000
Closing Date: 10 October 2023
Purpose: To commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations, and their families. Two categories of grants are available under the STS program:

  • Community Grants - Up to $10,000

  • Major Grants - $10,001 - $150,000

Securing Faith-Based Places Grant

Amount: $25,000 - $500,000
Closing Date: 11 September 2023
Purpose: To improve security at religious schools and preschools, places of worship and faith-based community centres, including fencing, lighting, security cameras, traffic barriers, alarm systems, and access controls, as well as engagement of security guards.

Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority Grants

Amount: $50,000 - $1 million
Closing Date: ongoing 
Purpose: To enhance the capabilities of Australian SMEs critical to the defence industry. The grants, can cover up to 50% of eligible project expenditure. The program focuses on areas such as combat technology, aerospace maintenance, surveillance and intelligence, space, and cyber capabilities.

Strengthening Medicare–General Practice (GP) Grants Program

Amount: Up to $50,000
Closing Date: Undisclosed
Purpose:  To allow all General Practices and eligible Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) to expand patient access and improve their services through investments in innovation, training, equipment, and minor capital works.

Smaller practices are eligible for grants of $25,000 or $35,000,and larger practices are eligible for grants of $50,000. GP practices and ACCHOs not currently accredited against the RACGP standards will be eligible for $25,000.

Telecommunications Disaster Resilience Innovation (TDRI) Program

Amount: $50 million
Closing Date: 20 October 2023
Purpose: To improve the resilience of telecommunication networks during natural disasters, particularly in rural, regional, remote and First Nations communities.

Veterans' Health Week (VHW) Funding

Amount: $720
Closing Date: 8 September 2023
Purpose:  VHW is being held 8-15 October, with the theme Mental Wellness Matters. Events must include an informative / educational element.

Vietnam War Commemorative Medallion

Closing Date: Undisclosed
Purpose: To acknowledge the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. The medallions are available for every Vietnam veteran, widows of veterans and other family members of veterans.

Women Leaders in Sport (WLIS) Grants Program

Amount: Total pool $200,000
Closing Date: 17 September 2023
Purpose: To encourage individuals and sporting organisations to apply for funding for projects that create more leadership pathways for women and more diverse and inclusive workplaces.

STATE GRANTS

 

Active Kids Program

Amount: $50
Closing Date: 31 January 2024
Purpose: The NSW Government has announced changes to the Active Kids and First Lap programs.  From 1 July 2023, all children enrolled in school will be eligible for a new $50 Active Kids voucher which will be valid until 31 January 2024. The voucher will be issued twice a year, at the start of Terms 1 and 3 and will cover activities currently available under the Active and Creative Kids programs.

Litter Prevention Grants Program

Amount: $10 million from 2022 to 2027.
Closing Date: 30 September 2023
Purpose: To deliver litter prevention projects and develop strategic plans to address litter in their local environments.  For councils, community groups and other key stakeholders. Funding is provided under 3 streams:

  • Stream 1: Small-scale, on-ground projects, including a dedicated cigarette butt litter program
  • Stream 2: Strategic development and capacity building
  • Stream 3: Own It and Act strategic implementation

NSW Premier’s Multicultural Community Medals and Honour Roll

Closing Date: 7 September 2023
Purpose: To pay tribute to the many outstanding people who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to promote social cohesion and harmony across our state. There are 12 award categories:

Small Grants - Museums and Galleries NSW

Amount: $2,000

Purpose: To meet the short-term, collection-based requirements of community museums and Aboriginal cultural spaces. There are no set categories for funding, and applications for a broad range of projects will be considered.

Quick Response Grants - Regional Arts Fund and Regional Arts NSW

Amount: $3,000
Closing Date: Ongoing
Purpose: Quick Response Grants support immediate needs that arise where the activity is unable to be planned for or supported in other funding rounds, for example taking up professional development, skills development or small project opportunities at short notice. Quick Response Grants are delivered monthly from February to November and all applications will be competitively assessed at the end of each month

PRIVATE SECTOR GRANTS

 

Corena Quick Win Climate Loan

Amount: Undisclosed
Closing Date: Undisclosed
Purpose:  The CORENA Fund provides interest-free loans to help fund Quick Win climate projects anywhere in Australia in cases where the up-front capital cost is a barrier. Examples of projects eligible for CORENA loans include:

  • Solar installations
  • Replacing gas hot water with efficient electric alternatives (eg. heat pumps)
  • Replacing inefficient air conditioning and gas space heating systems with reverse cycle air conditioners
  • Induction cooktops
  • Lighting retrofits
  • Electric vehicles
  • Energy audits
  • Other cost-effective energy efficiency measures
  • A combined package of two or more of the above.

Eraring Community Investment Fund

Amount: $5 million

Purpose: To support the local community during the Eraring Power Station's future transition. The fund supports local projects delivering social, economic and environmental outcomes across the Lake Macquarie local government area and surrounding the Eraring Power Station.

Scanlon Foundation Annual Community Grants

Purpose: To support funding in areas of employment and literacy. The Foundation looks for programs that understand and consider the transition requirements of individuals and organisations. For literacy, the Foundation looks for programs that help individuals acquire English more informally, in ways that are accessible, flexible for meeting individual needs and (ideally) sustainable

The Aged Persons Welfare Foundation

Purpose: To provide financial support and encouragement to organisations throughout Australia devoted to improving the welfare and quality of life of elderly people. They may be living in nursing homes, hostels, retirement villages or in their own homes.
