Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world

Traditional agricultural production in northern Uganda is characterized by low yields which do not meet the nutritional needs of the growing human population.

This project aims to improve community resilience in northern Uganda by developing efficient and sustainable technologies for mass-rearing of highly nutritious and sustainable protein-rich edible grasshopper, Ruspolia differens and edible cricket species, Acheta domesticus.

You are most welcome to a talk by Victor M. Escalona (University of Bern), upon invitation of Prof. Koen Bostoen, as part of the Master of African Studies course Language, History and Identity in Central and Eastern Africa.

The Ghent University Mandela Lectures have become established public events in the city of Ghent. In this year's lecture South African world-renowned photographer and journalist Gulshan Khan will engage in a discussion with Dutch author Adriaan van Dis. They will discuss contemporary challenges in South Africa and the question of Nelson Mandela's legacy, through the lens of Gulshan Khan's artistic oeuvre. 

The lecture will be followed by the official opening of Gulshan Khan's picture exhibition in the city library of Ghent.

As climate change challenges our environments and infrastructure, communities adapt, move, and connect, with the most vulnerable affected the most.

The Western Cape reflects this resilience and strength, reminding us of our shared humanity and the need for meaningful action.

Sculpting This Earth follows internationally acclaimed artist Strijdom van der Merwe over four consecutive seasons as he travels to remote locations in the southern African interior to make beautiful land art works in a striking range of spectacular natural settings.

This is a Belgian premiere.
