The scholarship includes a two-year academic award of $9,500 per year and a 10-week, full-time, paid summer internship opportunity at any NOAA facility nationwide, and funding to present their NOAA research projects at two national scientific conferences. Danielle Losos's EVST '22 was a 2020 NOAA scholar and then worked for NOAA's GOES-R satellite program to improve data usability and develop novel cloud-based workflows for data analysis and visualization. Research Position with Professor Benoit | This research project studies macroplastic litter and microplastics in the New Haven area. Team members will collect and characterize plastics in and between all urban environmental compartments including street margins, catch basins, bioswales, street sweeping, storm drains, streams, ponds, and eventual transport to Long Island Sound. The research will contribute to understanding how environmental factors facilitate climate induced tree species migrations to cooler upslope refugia on mountains in four states of the northeastern United States (NY, VT, NH, ME).
