Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! We encourage patients over the age of 40 to speak with their provider about regular breast cancer screenings every 1-2 years. The death rate from breast cancer has dropped 42% from 1989 to 2019 as a result of earlier detection through mammogram screenings every 1-2 years, increased awareness, and advanced treatment.
Medicare Open Enrollment Period
The annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period is here! Whether you have an existing Medicare plan or have not enrolled yet, this is an important time to review your eligibility and benefits. The Open Enrollment Period lasts from October 15th to December 7th, and during this time you can join, switch, or drop a plan for the next calendar year. If you are 65 or older, or turning 65 in the next 3 months, you can sign up for Medicare. Need help choosing a plan? Get to Know Our Residents
Daniel Tzou, MD
Daniel Tzou, MD, is one of 6 residents in Lawndale Christian Health Center's Family Medicine Residency program (FMR). As a student at Princeton University, Daniel learned about LCHC through various friends who served as full-time staff before they attended medical school. These peers spoke highly about their experiences working at Lawndale, which inspired Daniel to feel connected to its Christian values. As he learned more about LCHC's mission to show and share the love of Jesus, he was enthusiastic to discover the new FMR Program. Daniel says, "I realized that I had the opportunity to be part of something very special." Daniel shares that his devotion to helping patients isn't just his passion, but his calling. He is excited to continue working with a diverse patient population as he aims to integrate himself into the community.
"I connect a lot with LCHC's values and serving patients in Lawndale. Hearing about how invested LCHC is in this community was really inspiring, and something that I wanted to be a part of."
