The August 2024 edition of Frontier Services 'Frontier News' is out now and available to read online here.
In this edition you'll find stories of Outback Links volunteers like Therese and Clive, and of the vital work of Bush Chaplains across Australia including WA Bush Chaplains Ric Payne and Lindsay Ginn, and many more stories highlighting the work of Frontier Services, an agency of the Uniting Church in Australia, standing with people in the bush.
With Love to the World News
With Love to the World now includes a weekly Narrative Lectionary reading
"With Love to the World is a daily Bible reading resource, written and produced within the Uniting Church in Australia. For many decades it has followed the Revised Common Lectionary. As from September this year, it will be including the main Narrative Lectionary reading each Monday, along with a short commentary on the passage. This is an important step in the development of the resource, to cater specifically for preachers who are now using this lectionary." - WCC urges respect for human life as Middle East violence escalates (WCC) - World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed grave concern over the recent escalation of violence in the Middle East.
- New Advocates for Assembly Circles of Interest (UCA) - The Assembly is pleased to announce two new Advocates for the Assembly Circles of Interest, elected at the 17th Assembly meeting. Welcome Rev Hee Won Chang as Advocate of the Growing in Faith Circle, and Matthew Julius as Advocate of the Transforming Worship Circle.
- The Path Home - A Free Photographic Exhibition (Uniting WA) - Go beyond the headlines at Uniting WA's new photographic exhibition 'The Path Home' and discover the diverse paths people take on their journey towards home. Featuring the work of acclaimed photographer Jarrad Seng and brought to you by Uniting WA... ‘The Path Home’ shares stories from seven West Australians at different stages on their journey out of homelessness. Monday 26 August, QV1 Perth, 7.30pm.
- CCJWA Seminar: Riverbeds and Watersheds: A New Geography of the Exodus and Wanderings - All are welcome to attend the seminar to be held at 7:30pm, Thursday 29 August at Temple David Function Centre, 34 Clifton Crescent, Mt Lawley. Guest presenter is Dr Deborah Hurn, and the facilitator is CCJWA Chair, Mr Trevor Creewel.
Retired Ministers Fellowship - The next gathering of the Retired Ministers Fellowship will be held on Thursday 15 August at Willetton Uniting Church commencing at 10.30am for morning tea. The speaker will be Elise Batchelor – MC, Teacher and Writer. Elise will speak on the topic of ‘Expanding faith as a modern health practice.’
