Spring 2025

A message from Tracy Allison, our Chief Executive

Welcome to our spring edition of Stakeholder News, put together especially for our partners.

Over the last year we have been sharing a range of stories to celebrate 35 years of West Kent. We’ve heard from our residents and shared owners, on what living in a West Kent home means for them. We’ve heard from our employees and board members, about why they choose to be involved in West Kent. You’ll understand that I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share my thoughts about West Kent and what makes us who we are today.

We’ve also recently secured £30m of new loan funding from the Affordable Homes Guarantee Scheme and I really enjoyed hearing from our Board Member Alex about how our approach to treasury management is helping us manage the fast moving funding environment.

Another key piece of work has been to develop our new strategic plan. Simply put, our ambition is that by 2030 our customers:

  • Will have a positive experience regardless of who they are, where they live, or how and when they choose to interact with us
  • Will feel we listen and act on their views
  • Will feel proud of the homes they live in.

You can read more about our plans here. This leads me nicely into sharing with you my own plan, to become semi-retired in early 2026. There will never be a ‘right time’ to leave as I very much enjoy being at West Kent. However, as we are about to launch our new strategic plan now is probably a good time to consider handing over the baton.

Reflecting back on my time here I feel incredibly privileged to have played a role in West Kent’s success and to have worked with such highly regarded colleagues. I am very proud of what we have achieved together. I feel especially fortunate to work with an excellent board and with such a committed executive team.

Looking forward I am confident of the continued success of West Kent. But for now, it’s very much ‘business as usual’.

All the best,

Tracy
