ARPA-H IS A GAME CHANGER. SEE HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED.

The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) was founded to bridge the gap between discovery and public benefit by supercharging development though significant financial and management support. 

Last month, the UW ARPA-H Committee held its first virtual ‘open house’ for WWAMI investigators to learn more about the new funding agency and the broader ARPA strategy and approach. Read more from our guest author, TL1 trainee Isabella Jennings.

The I-Corps Customer Discovery Program is powered by CoMotion in collaboration with ITHS. This program offers customer discovery training and provides connections to mentors, both of which are critical to the success of any business. You will also learn how to effectively communicate your idea to investors and have the chance to receive up to $1,000 to continue customer discovery and stakeholder interviews. HOW TO BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR

Learn Essentials of Biomedical Entrepreneurship with New Training Series

The ITHS Technology Development Center is excited to host a new training series aimed at early-stage academic innovators who need to quickly learn the essentials of biomedical entrepreneurship.

The Biomedical Innovation Fireside Chats will be a seven-part series of hour-long talks held January–May 2024. In each session, regional program leaders will host a panel of biomedical entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts. These speakers will highlight their biomedical entrepreneurial journeys and share key information with attendees.

Each event will be held over zoom, recorded and posted online for those who can’t attend live. One registration will sign you up for the entire series, so sign up now!

HOW TO APPLY

ITHS APPLICATION OPEN: TL1 TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAM

The application period is now open for the ITHS TL1 Translational Research Training Program, a predoctoral training program sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

APPLICATION OPEN: We invite graduate students from health-related programs at the University of Washington and Montana State University to apply by December 15th for the program.

WASHINGTON RESEARCH FOUNDATION FUNDING PLANNING GRANTS

From now until March 2024, the WRF will be accepting applications to fund planning grants of up to $200,000 each. These grants will enable teams of investigators from Washington state research institutions to develop a detailed proposal for a large-scale initiative that strengthens the life science innovation ecosystem in the state. Goal: to surface large-scale efforts that have the potential to deliver innovations that can change lives. See timeline>>

 
 

ITHS: SUPPORTING RESEARCH EFFORTS OF JUNIOR INVESTIGATORS

The ITHS offers Catalyst Awards  to provide “just-in-time” resources especially to early  career investigators looking to complete a project or collect pilot data for a larger grant application.  

The ITHS also offers Voucher Awards as “in-kind” service vouchers in support of outstanding translational research. 

2024 deadlines for the Catalyst and Voucher awards: 

  • January 1, 2024

OPEN NOW: POPULATION HEALTH TIER 2 GRANTS: LAYING THE FOUNDATION

 The purpose of this tier of grants is to support faculty and PI-eligible staff to develop preliminary data or proof-of-concept needed to pursue follow-on funding to scale one’s efforts. Examples of previously-funded projects can be found by scrolling to the bottom of this page.

Winter Quarter 2024
