JOTTINGS OF
A PERSONAL JEWELLERSEPTEMBER 2026 NEWSLETTER
Hello! Welcome to my September newsletter. Almost three-quarters of the year gone and now of course we’re into Spring. It’s been another busy month working on such interesting jewels as well as talks, and showing friends around the Cartier Exhibition at the NGV. If you still haven’t visited, I will tell you I feel it is one of the best jewellery exhibitions ever. As you can imagine I’ve seen quite a few in different venues around the world and this
one eclipses them all.
Exploring NGV's Cartier Exhibition

For those of you who haven’t heard my Cartier talk written especially for the exhibition, Kenneth Park and I are speaking at the RACV City Club on Thursday 17th September. To get an idea of what you’re going to see (or have seen!), please book here.
Talks Club: Animal Jewels & Animals in Art
Explore the fascinating world of animals in jewellery & art.
10:30am–12:30pm Tuesday 22 September 2026
City Library, Melbourne VIC
On the subject of talks, this month with Kenneth under our Talks Club banner and staged at Melbourne City Library, we will present our “animals” talks. Kenneth will explore the depiction of animals in art, their roles as symbols, subjects and companions across different periods and artistic traditions. I will talk about animal jewels through the centuries with some fabulous examples that even I would love in my jewellery collection! Two talks not to be missed!
Talks Club: The Mitford Sisters & The Devonshire Jewels
Explore the extraordinary Mitford sisters & the jewels of one of England’s most intriguing duchesses.
10:30am–12:30pm Tuesday 20 October 2026
City Library, Melbourne VIC
And looking ahead to October, my good friend Susannah Fullerton OAM and I will be giving a “double act” too. Susannah will talk about the interesting and eccentric Mitford Sisters while my talk covers the Jewels of Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire, many of which are on display at Chatsworth House. Even if you’ve heard it before it’s well worth coming along to again, while Susannah will be selling some of her books too (great gifts for Christmas).
This last month I had my first interview with Francis Leach who is now the host of Overnights on ABC Local radio. Despite the many insomniacs in this country, if you weren’t awake at 3am on 19 August you can listen to the full interview below.
My theme this month is blue, and I have some beautiful pieces to share with you.
Firstly this graduating round bead Tanzanite necklace. A collection of beads like this is not easy to find but with healing properties such as calming an overactive mind, relieving stress, and boosting the immune system maybe this is the jewel for you!
Next are these wonderful Art Deco clips. The perfect piece(s) to go on each lapel to your jacket, or perhaps wear them like our dear late Queen Elizabeth II did with her Boucheron clips, pictured below.

These particular ones are thought to have been made in Sri Lanka and feature blue Zircons and white Sapphires so for the look and that Art Deco style they are great value.
Finally for a lovely ring, how can you go past this gorgeous oval Tanzanite and Diamond cluster ring. Centring on a 1.88ct oval Tanzanite and beautifully mounted by the talented Australian jeweller John Callejia how can you not have a ring like this in your collection?
So I think that about wraps it up for this month. Thank you all for your continued support and friendship. Circa AD Jewels would not be what it is without all of you! Finally, a lovely quote from a new client who wants me to help bring her jewellery into the 21st century. 'So many times in my life the saying "when the student is ready, the master will appear" has proved to be accurate.' How humbled am I by that one!
Warmly,
