Late last night, The U.S. House of Representatives finally passed a once-in-a-generation infrastructure bill. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), if signed into law, includes $29.9 billion in highway funds and $10.3 billion in funds for California transit over the next five years.

According to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, the infrastructure bill would increase funding in California by 42% in 2022. Nationwide, the IIJA would provide $450 billion in highway funding.

"The passage of the IIJA by Congress is a historic moment for our members and the industry," said Emily Cohen, EVP, United Contractors. "Thank you to every member that made a call or sent an email to Congress. This is a huge win."

The IIJA passed the U.S. House of Representatives with a bipartisan 228-206 vote and now moves to the President for signature.
