What's Been Cooking at Relish?Relish has been busy; thankfully!
In 2021, we introduced you to our new Executive Chef, Mark Russell and Managing Director, Robert Severini. Our leadership team expanded to include Bel Thompson, General Manager of Workplace Dining, and several other talented professionals that are passionate about food and hospitality.
We gave our commissary kitchen a nip and tuck and worked with designer, Charles Wulster of Wood Steel Stone to design new service pieces. We have also ushered in the happy return of Workplace Dining clients to their offices. We fostered new venue partnerships and continued to establish relationships with like-minded sustainable vendors.
Summer marked a great comeback for in-person events. We were grateful to be back on the Great Lawn in Central Park, providing catering for the VIP tents at The Concert for New York and the Global Citizen's Festival as well as CREtech Conference at Pier 36.
We are anticipating a continued return to the office, as well as weddings, corporate events, and social occasions, while staying safe and maintaining COVID-19 protocols. We want to hear from you - Share your experiences, ideas, and questions with us!
Pictured above: A recap of Relish's estimated impact for 2021.
Social Impact Relish will continue to grow our impact within the community by partaking in food rescue practices, donating surplus food, and providing gifted meals to local charities while continuously selecting the most sustainable products available. Relish donates surplus food from all events to numerous local groups in need via Replate, The Bowery Mission, and local community fridges. Additionally, we provide meals to various non-profits, including Covenant House NY, St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Cherry Kids, Inc. & many more. In addition to the above efforts, our Workplace Dining clients are supportive donating their surplus food each day via Replate. Since joining the team, Chef Mark has taken our sustainability efforts to the next level. Our initiatives in 2022 will include purchasing more sustainable fish, meat, produce, and packaging options, as well as developing a stronger relationship with GrowNYC to purchase more from local farms. Purchasing directly through GrowNYC will allow us to assist them with their overall mission of improving New York City's quality of life through environmental programs while providing our clients with a direct link to regional farms, thus supporting small and
local businesses. Relish will continue to explore new avenues to enhance our social impact and will be regularly reporting our efforts. If you have any suggestions or products that will assist us in these efforts, please reach out!

The Altman Building
Providing event services at a landmark historic venue, The Altman Building was established in 1896 as the carriage house for the B. Altman Department Store. The building is now a versatile private event venue, showcasing 14,000 square feet over two floors. The venue entrance is ground level and virtually column-free, providing flexibility in event production.
The detail is what makes the space, original mahogany French doors connect directly to the street to allow for seamless ground-level load in and welcomes visitors and guests into an expansive piece of New York history. With custom hardwood floors, exposed vaulted brick ceilings, and an expanse of windows that lend an endless cascade of natural light, The Altman Building is an elegant, memorable and exciting venue to host your next event.
