Easter long weekend Our Easter promotion is quickly approaching and we would like to encourage all stallholders to send us some details about what products they would like to showcase. This will also help our volunteers direct people to your stall on the day. Please send us some photos and information of any Easter products you have that would be good for those family feasts and get-togethers. Social tag your posts Casual stallholders apply now Casual stallholder applications are now open and will close on 16 April 2024. Casual stallholders are an important part of our market. Salamanca Market provides an important opportunity for many small, artisanal Tasmanian businesses to test and launch their products and ideas. All current casual stallholders must reapply. Please read the 2024 Casual Stallholder Information Pack prior to completing your application. It has useful information that will help you. Answer ALL questions clearly and concisely, and include enough detail for the assessors to fully understand the product or service. Please remember that your application needs to be thorough. Don’t assume that the assessors know your products. Above. Soap cupcakes from Pampersweet Soapcakes. Website updates - check your listing There are quite a few stallholders who have not updated their website listing in several years. This means that most of the information and photos are out of date. If you haven't done this in the last year, please click the link below to complete the form, even if you think your old listing is OK. There are lots of new options for photos, contact details and product search features which will help people find you. Above. the search feature on our website to find a stall. Weather at the market We now have a weather station on the edge of the market on Morrison Street. The data coming from this weather station is being fed into a free, live website and will be a handy reference for stallholders so they can see exactly what the weather is doing at the market. Check out the site for info on wind speed and direction, rainfall, temperature, humidity and more. Our plan is to add this link to the Salamanca Market website so visitors can check the weather before they come down on site. Above: the weather station has great data. Hi vis reminder As the days shorten and it is now dark during the morning set up, it is a great time to remind stallholders about making sure you put your high vis vest on as soon as you arrive at the market. The vests have reflective strips that make the wearer easy to spot by drivers in low light conditions. We suggest that you make it part of your morning routine to put your vest on before getting out of your vehicle to set up. Above. Early morning set up at the market. Don't pack up early! A reminder that it is important to continue trading at your stall until the market finishes at 3pm. Stallholders may begin to pack down their stall equipment after 2.30pm, and not before. Stallholders must still be able to serve customers from their stall until 3pm, as instructed in the Stallholder Operational Handbook. Above. A wooden dog print postcard from Nitchi Volunteer opportunity Do you know someone that might like to join the City of Hobart volunteer program? The City Welcome Volunteer Program is currently looking for friendly people to join their team. The volunteers can be found at Salamanca Market, Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre, Mac02 Cruise Ship Terminal and at the Hobart Airport. It’s a rich and rewarding role that suits people who are friendly and confident and who like meeting and helping people from all walks of life. Becoming a volunteer is a great way to give back to the local community, learn new skills, make new friends and help people. Our volunteers provide a warm and friendly welcome to visitors arriving in Tasmania, and can assist with general information and travel recommendations. Above. Volunteers at the Hobart Airport.
