FEMALE FRIENDLY CHANGE ROOMS IN WALLAN

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence was in Wallan on Tuesday 9 August for the official opening of the Greenhill Reserve Female Friendly Change Room Conversion Project.

The project will help more women get involved in local sport with the main oval change rooms upgraded to be more female friendly.

Public access toilets and umpire change rooms are now located at the front of the building for safer access.

A first aid room and a verandah have been added as well as more storage.

Mitchell Shire Council’s Australia Day committee is now calling for nominations ahead of the 2023 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony.

Anyone in the community can nominate an individual or group they believe deserve recognition for service to the community and fellow community members.

Free to loan for Mitchell Shire Library members, the tool kits are designed to help you identify issues that may be affecting the energy and water efficiency of your home.

POWER SAVING REBATE Payments to help ease cost of living
 

All Victorian households are eligible for a one-off Victorian Government payment of $250 to help ease the cost of living.

To be eligible for the payment, you must have a residential electricity account and be the account holder. 

Concession card holders who previously applied for the payment, can apply again to receive another payment.

For ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home, visit the Sustainability section of Council’s website.

NO QUARRY FOR WALLAN/BEVERIDGE
Concerns raised with local MP about proposed quarry
 

More than 20 members from the NO QUARRY community working group had an audience with member for Yan Yean Danielle Green in Wallan on Wednesday 10 August. 

The group who represent those who will be most affected if this quarry goes ahead, took the opportunity to share their concerns with Ms Green and seek advice on further steps they can take.

Mitchell Shire Council shares the community’s concerns and has partnered with the group on the NO QUARRY campaign.

Councillor activity reports: Monday 22 August at 9am. Councillors share information on their activities in the community via the Councillor Delegates Report. We want to know if you find these a valuable and interesting source of information.

2022 Business Survey: Wednesday 31 August at 9am. Have your say and help us develop future strategies for local business investment projects, programs and services
