PROJECTS WITH IMPACTTREATING CANCER PATIENTS WITH DEPRESSIONLEARN ABOUT THE SCOPE PROJECTThe latest TSBM ITHS Impact Profile is on the SCOPE project, which is developing a model to treat cancer patients who also have depression. The SCOPE team is building web-based platform, including a mobile app, to improve collaboration between patients and their clinical care team to align treatments for both conditions. NOTABLE CONNECTION ITHS supported the work of 2023-2024 TL1 trainee Tae Jones (pictured), a member of the SCOPE team and a PhD candidate at UW’s Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering.

MONTANA STATE AWARDED $10.7 MILLION TO EXPAND BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENTFrom MSU News: ITHS proudly spotlights great work being done in the WWAMI region with the announcement that Montana State University has been awarded $10.7 million from the National Institutes of Health to launch a new center aimed at strengthening biomedical research, workforce development and public health across Montana. The funding will support the creation of the Center for Advanced Molecular Pathogenesis, or CAMP, a program designed to help early-career scientists establish independent research programs while building the infrastructure needed to support discovery and innovation in the state.
NOTABLE CONNECTION CAMP is led by longtime ITHS collaborator Blake Wiedenheft, Winifred Asbjornson Plant Sciences Endowed Chair and professor, and Jovanka Voyich, professor and department head, both in the Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology in the College of Agriculture. UPCOMING EVENTS & TRAININGSSAVE THE DATE: NED 2026The ITHS Networking to Enhance Development (NED) conference for research coordinators is scheduled for Friday, September 18. Our theme this year is Connecting People, Process, and Purpose. Registration opens Wednesday, July 15. Stay tuned for more details about this year's event!
SUMMER INSTITUTE FOR STATS IN BIG DATAThe 2026 edition of the Summer Institute for Statistics in Big Data (SISBID) will be held virtually July 13 -- 31. In addition to the four modules taught by leading experts, this year they'll have a new module on deep learning and AI for biomedical data. All modules will involve a combination of synchronous and asynchronous teaching consisting of prerecorded short videos coupled with online interactive lectures, computing labs, and hands-on case studies. Due to substantial interest and requests for extending the early-bird registration window, the early-bird registration deadline has been extended to June 15th, 2026.
