Thank you for inspiring change with NMF! 🤝 No images? Click here Welcoming hope, joy, and impact for the new year. Inspiring Change with the NFL NMF is thrilled to share the exciting news of our participation in the NFL Inspire Change social justice initiative for the upcoming season! We are honored to kick off our partnership with the Washington Commanders during their home game on December 31, 2023. . . . Sustaining NMF's Work The Power Couple of U.S. Health and Behavioral Care Drs. Ludlow and Ruth Creary – co-founders of the philanthropic Creary Family Foundation – have been a power couple in health and behavioral care since the early eighties. “We always believe things can get better, so we persevere and help those around us not to give up either.” Witnessing, firsthand, the disparate health outcomes that their family members faced, both doctors were compelled to enter their careers “with a profound understanding of the unequal treatment and effects on policies, budgets, and outcomes in both the U.S. and global health systems.” . . . Before The Year Is Over… Research has now evidenced that which many of us have known —that racial concordance or care delivered by doctors who look like their patients — can make an enormous difference. Every patient deserves the very best care, delivered by doctors committed to ending unnecessary and preventable health disparities. Will you stand up and make a donation, to support our shared vision for a diverse and equitable health care system? . . . Celebrating Impactful Partnerships Addressing Medical School Debt with NBME In partnership with NMF, the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) has selected 10 outstanding recipients for its inaugural scholarship program, aiming to alleviate the financial burdens faced by medical students. These scholarships are not just financial aid; they are pathways to dreams. From first-generation students like Peiton Jarmon to passionate advocates like Ivy Ochieng, each recipient embodies resilience and determination. Together, we're investing in a world where everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to heal, learn, and thrive. . . . Partnering with UHF to Diversify Health Care Fifty inaugural recipients of The Future Clinicians Scholarship Program recently joined the NMF community! This program represents an essential step forward in addressing the pressing need for diversity in health care and supporting students pursuing careers in medicine and allied health fields. The Future Clinicians Scholarship Program’s impact will be felt not only by the scholars themselves, but also by the communities they will serve — making health care more accessible and responsive to the needs of all. . . . Scholar Opportunities Join the NMF Primary Care Leadership Program (PCLP) The summer of 2024 will mark the 13th year that NMF will implement the Primary Care Leadership Program. 30 PCLP scholars will actively engage with a Community Health Clinic (CHCs) Site Partner in leadership training, team-based project activities, and health care service delivery. The program will span from June 17 – July 26, 2024. Medical Students of Color Wellness Circles NMF has partnered with The Steve Fund to offer a series of monthly virtual Wellness Circles to NMF scholars! Facilitated by mental health experts, these free sessions provide scholars with a safe and intimate space to explore the unique challenges they encounter in their academic and professional journeys, and the impact on their mental health. The Wellness Circles will be held virtually from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. ET on January 17 and February 14 – scholars will receive a gift card for attending.
