Be the Light that Gives BackOur 2024 event season is well underway, and this past month was a busy one! Our Chief Fun Officer, Lisa and our Director of Fun & Games, Kerri jetted off to London for a conference to meet with the creators and network with like-minded makers of fun from around the world for the technology we utilize for our hunts and virtual games. Meanwhile our operations team was busy hosting events around the United States. While our team got to play outside the cubicle in Charlotte, Las Vegas, Scottsdale and beyond, our largest event this month was in our company’s hometown of Orlando where we produced a custom Give Back Gameshow for over 1,000 people! With the popularity of charitable team building continuing to grow, we are shining a light on another new program, Power Play… Power PlayDid you know that nearly 10% of the world’s population lives in energy poverty and that 3.8 million people die every year as a result? Your group can make a difference by participating in Power Play, an event that illuminates the issues at hand and results in each participant assembling a SolarBuddy solar light for a child living in energy poverty. The event begins with teams participating in a variety of challenges designed to educate them about energy poverty, sustainability, and global citizenship. Sample challenges include: Video Challenge – After watching a video about the SolarBuddy mission, teams are tested on their retention with a quick quiz about what they saw. High or Low – Teams must decide if the false fact stated is actually a higher or lower figure. For example, millions of people living on less than $1 a day spend 30% of their income on kerosine (paraffin) lamps. That figure is actually higher! Musical Challenge – Teams listen to sound bites from songs that deal with energy and must answer questions about them. The winning team from the first half of the event will receive award medals for being the brightest of the bunch. Then, it’s time for participants to assemble their Junior SolarBuddy and complete a letter writing activity, which will be packaged with the light. These lights, which will enable children to study after dusk, are returned to SolarBuddy for a quality check before being sent to another country to be distributed by their NGO Partners. All Sweetness and LightLooking to bring your team together this month? In honor of everyone’s favorite Hallmark holiday (Valentine’s Day), have your team come together to make valentines for seniors. Step 1: Set a day that works best for your group and send out an invite to a team lunch. Step 2: When your participants arrive, have Valentine’s Day card kits set out, making sure you have at least one card available per person. Step 3: Ask each team member to get creative and make a Valentine’s Day card that will be dropped off to a Senior Living Facility. Step 4: Prior to Valentine’s Day, drop off the handmade cards to a local Senior Living Facility to spread the love in the name of all sweetness and light! |
