Thousands of Students Inspired at #GoHealth Careers Expo
Over 1,800 students from across Southeast Queensland attended the 2025 #GoHealth Careers Expo, sponsored by Queensland Government and coordinated by CheckUP's Health Gateway team.
Held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, the event featured 60+ exhibitors and hands-on experiences showcasing diverse health careers.
Students connected with professionals across hospitals, universities, and training providers.

2025 TAFE Queensland Health and Nursing Product Industry Conference
The Industry Skills and Jobs Advisor for Health and the Workforce General Manager provided an insight into the skills and workforce that is required to meet the current and predicted health and community service trends in Queensland.
During the panel and presentation, they shared opportunities, current policy and projects that they encouraged the audience of professionals, educators and employers to engage to ensure the sector has rigorous discussion and viewpoints for continued holistic service provision.
Gladstone Community Services and NDIS morning tea
CheckUP’s Industry Workforce Advisors, along with the Manager of NDIS Business Connect and CheckUP Outreach Services, held a morning tea in Gladstone to provide workforce planning assistance and support. Thank you to everyone who attended.
The Modern Workplace Toolkit Breakfast
The Industry and Workforce team presented at this breakfast in Caboolture to provide a snapshot of how they have assisted businesses to build their business capacity through structured and supported planning.
On the Road Again
The Industry and Workforce team continue to actively connect with organisations across the state. We recently completed our morning tea roadshows visiting Mt Isa, Gladstone and Gympie.
Information was shared about workforce planning assistance tools, designed to help small businesses across the Health, Community Services, and First Nations Health and Social Assistance sectors thrive with the support of Industry Workforce Advisors.
NDIS Business Connect shared how this program can help businesses navigate the NDIS and being prepared future developments. Importantly, the voice of providers is heard to strengthen advocacy messaging.
Connect for Mental Health This September
Join us for our next QPHCN community forum as we get ready for Queensland Mental Health Week. This hybrid event is for everyone passionate about wellbeing.
Hear from leaders like the QLD Mental Health Commissioner, Ivan Frkovic, and advocates with lived experience.
It’s a chance to connect, share ideas, and discuss what really matters in mental health.

Nursing and Aged Care Industry Roundtables
Join the conversation and help identify actionable ways to address nursing shortages in the aged care sector. The TAFE Centre of Excellence Health Care and Support will host a series of online and face-to-face roundtables throughout August.
Queensland Portal
Queensland Health and the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet provides health information and resources to support anyone working or studying in First Nations health in Queensland.
Care Sector Demand Map
Developed by the Australian Government, this provides data on current NDIS and Aged Care participation levels, spending, and services, to help inform provider business decisions and encourage growth in areas where it's needed.
Refreshed and updated VET Practitioner Resource
This resource presents a range of information designed to support vocational education and training (VET) practitioners in their teaching and assessment practice and in undertaking research.
Australian Jobs 2025
This is a great resource for job seekers navigating the career landscape, employment providers, and career advisors as it provides an easy-to-read overview of the Australian labour market. Here are two key findings:
- 90% of employment growth over the next 10 years will require post-secondary training and education
- Workforce demands are increasing in aged care and disability support, early childhood education and care, health and human services and sport and recreation.
TAFE Queensland Scholarship Program
This program awards 100 x $5,000 scholarships to people looking to change their lives and build lifelong careers.
Consultations and surveys
Improving health resilience in older people
This project seeks to understand the specific challenges older people face and begin to shape preparedness resources. The goal is for health and wellbeing to form part of personal emergency plans.
HumanAbility Earn While You Learn Research Project
This will identify, categorise and assess current models to identify any challenges that might prevent successful implementation in the care and support sectors. It will also explore ways to increase the workforce through employment pathways.

The Roadmap provides a framework for strategic analysis, evaluation and advice on regional Australia’s employment, education and training system
Don’t miss your chance to contribute to the NDS State of the Disability Sector survey
Your responses to the NDS State of the Disability Sector survey provide vital, hard data that backs up advocacy to the government. This is a key opportunity to contribute to a truly representative picture of the sector. The survey closes on Friday, 15 August.
