Works on the Sydney Street Rejuvenation Project are moving along with the section outside Pat Croke Furniture recently completed.

The Kilmore Bypass is one of the most urgently needed road and infrastructure projects in Mitchell Shire.

NOMINATE A COMMUNITY CHAMPION

Nominations are open for the 2023 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony that will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Seymour.

Do you know someone who deserves community recognition for their community contributions?

Anyone can nominate an individual or group they believe deserves recognition for service to the community and fellow community members.

RATES NOTICES

Rates notices went out a little bit later than usual, so the payment date has been extended.

If you normally pay by instalment, we’ve extended the payment date by two weeks to Friday 14 October.

Are you having trouble paying your rates? Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your situation and set up a payment plan to avoid extra costs.

MITCHELL YOUTH FEST 2022

There's still time to get involved in Mitchell Youth Fest.

More events and activities are coming up including skating at the Gnarley Mitchell Youth Fest, yoga and mindfulness activities and free CPR training.

INPUT WANTED FOR CONSULTATIONS

We have a few consultations open at the moment, and we would like to hear your views and ideas. We're currently seeking input on:

Seymour Playground Improvements: Upgrades are planned for Graham Reserve, Heywood Hill Reserve and Generation Park and Council wants to hear from locals who use the play spaces. Submissions close Monday 26 September.

Anzac Avenue Masterplan: Mitchell Shire Council is developing a masterplan to improve the Anzac Avenue streetscape from the railway underpass to Delatite Road. Submissions close Friday 30 September.

Street renaming proposal in BroadfordWe're proposing to rename part of Ferguson Street in Broadford on the western side of the railway line between Hamilton Street and Murchison Street. Submissions close Monday 3 October at 9am.

There will be free school holiday activities at Mitchell Shire Libraries from 10am to 4pm including:

  • arts and craft tables
  • board games
  • make your own bath bombs

Activities are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday (excluding the public holiday) in Broadford, Seymour, Kilmore and Wallan.

Activities are only on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding the public holiday) in Beveridge.

COUNTRY CONCERT Victorian Seniors Festival
 

Mitchell Shire Council is once again proud to host the free Country Concert.

This year's concert features rockabilly legend Lonnie Lee.

It's on Tuesday 11 October from 11.15am to 1.15pm at the Broadford Hall, Murchison Street, Broadford.

COUNCIL MEETING Catch up on what happened
 

The September Council meeting was held this week, with a number of important decisions made including:

  • Councillors supported naming Centenary Drive Reserve, Kilmore, as Jessie Lawrence Park.
  • Granted a planning permit application for a dwelling at 1 Barwon Drive, Wandong
  • Refused to grant a planning permit application for multiple dwellings at 19 Darraweit Road, Wallan
  • Refused a proposed amendment to the development plan at 625 and 646 Northern Highway, Wallan.
  • Resolved to write to the Victorian Minister for Roads and Road Safety, The Honourable Ben Carroll about trucks striking the rail overpass in Seymour
